Snapchat Crosses 200 Mn Monthly Users in India, Launches AI Chatbot
Visual messaging app Snapchat has reportedly crossed the 200 million monthly active users mark, said the parent company Snap Inc in a statement. They added that 120 million of them watch content on the platform.
Alongside this news, the company also announced the launch of a new experimental AI-powered chatbot customised for Snapchat. This will be called My AI. Let's take a closer look at details.

In the statement, the company said, "Snapchat reaches over 200 million monthly active users in India."
The visual messaging app, while announcing this significant achievement, also highlighted other vital statistics of growth that the company has been witnessing. Snapchat reportedly has 750 million monthly active users globally. Most of these are young users. 90 percent of users fall in the age bracket of 18-24 years.
Commenting on the milestones, Ajit Mohan, Snap, APAC, President, said."I am thrilled to have joined Snap at a time where the momentum among our Indian community has never been stronger. We see incredible potential for partners, creators and brands to build communities and businesses on Snapchat, and we couldn't be more excited about our future."

Over 120 mn Users Consuming Content on Snapchat
Internal data as revealed by the company suggest that there is a growing audience consuming content in various forms in the messaging app.
Over 120 million Snapchat users or Snapchatters, as they're called, are watching content across different formats, including stories, spotlight (user generated content) and partnered content on the messaging app. Some among them are also actively engaging with Augmented Reality (AR) Lenses over 50 billion times every month. Additionally, the company added, that over 85 per cent of Snapchat users creatively use Lenses to express themselves during festive months in India. In effect, these features help users generate content in new unique forms too.
The company has also started partnering with merchants in India, in efforts to build a local e-commerce ecosystem. This would be an additional layer on top of the AR-enabled messaging app.
The statement from the company added, "As the Snapchat community continues to grow in India, Snap is building its team and enhancing its operations with hires across a variety of roles to better serve the Indian Snapchatter community."
