Xiaomi is known for its aggressively priced smartphones, but the company has not restricted itself only to this segment. It branched out into almost all sorts of tech products from smart kettle or mosquito repeller.
Now, the company has unveiled the Mi Notebook Air alongside the Redmi Pro and this marks the company's entry into the laptop segment as well. This highlight is that this device has one thing that most ultraportable laptops miss out on - a discrete graphics card that is faster than the rest.
The Macbook look alike from Xiaomi is clad in aluminum and does not have any exterior logos. It has a minimalist and clean design and there is a Mi logo that can be seen only on opening the laptop. While it is dubbed Mi Notebook Air, the laptop is made by Tian Mi, a partner of Xiaomi.
Xiaomi has announced two variants of the Mi Notebook Air - one with a 12.5-inch display that is thinner and lighter and the other with a 13.3-inch display. These devices will be available in Gold and Silver color options and the sale will start from August 2 in China.
The 12.5-inch variant of Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air is priced at 3,499 yuan (approx. Rs 35,000) and the 13.3-inch variant is priced at 4,999 yuan (approx. Rs 50,000). Though global availability of the Xiaomi laptop is yet to be revealed, we can expect the same to arrive in India in the coming months.
