Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c, Snapdragon 8c With NavIC Navigation Support Unveiled
After launching a set of mobile processors, Qualcomm has now unveiled two new chipsets for always-connected PCs on the third day of its tech summit in Hawaii. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8c are the latest notebook processors based on 8nm, and 7nm fabrication, respectively.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c Features And Specifications
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7c is the most affordable of the lot and is based on 8nm fabrication. It has an eight-core CPU setup based on Kryo 468 CPU and the graphics requirements are handled by the Adreno 618 GPU. The chipset also has a dedicated AI engine called Qualcomm AI Engine, capable of doing 5 trillion operations per second.
The built-in Snapdragon X15 LTE modem can offer peak download speeds of 800Mbps and claims to offer increased battery life. The chipset comes with a built-in Wi-Fi 6 support along with Bluetooth 5.1. This is also one of the first chipsets that support NavIC navigation.
The chipset also packs-in a 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 255 ISP capable of recording native 4K HDR videos and also supports dual camera setup with up to 16MP resolution on both cameras.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8c Features And Specifications
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8c is a little more powerful compared to the Snapdragon 7c. The chipset comprises an eight-core CPU setup based on Kryo 490 CPU with Adreno 675 GPU. Unlike the Snapdragon 7c, the Snapdragon 8c is built using a much efficient 7nm fabrication.
Compared to the Snapdragon 850, the Snapdragon 8c offers up to 30 percent improvement in performance and the built-in Snapdragon X22 LTE modem that offers a peak download speed of up to 2Gbps.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8c chipset can be paired with the Snapdragon X55 5G modem to add 5G capabilities like 5G NR, mmWave, sub-6 GHz, and 5G/4G spectrum sharing. As per the software support, the Snapdragon 8c is compatible with Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro, and Windows 10 Enterprise edition.
