Uber has now announced its partnership with India's largest online ticket booking portal BookMyShow that will allow users to book their cabs to the movie hall in a jiffy. Basically Uber is making use of their API integration to provide the option for booking a cab directly from the BookMyShow app.
On successfully booking a movie ticket via BookMyShow users will get two options - 'Ride Now in an Uber' and 'Set Reminder'. While the 'Ride Now' option redirects you onto a screen which is similar to one seen while booking an Uber cab via their official app, the 'Set Reminder' option allows you set an alarm that will remind you to book an Uber Cab before you leave for your destination.
The Uber Cab hailing feature is presently limited to the Android version of the BookMyShow app and there's no word regarding expanding this new feature to other platforms including iOS and Windows.
Recently Uber India have made use of this same API for integrating the cab hailing services feature in two of the leading startups in India namely Zomato and Practo. According to Saad Ahmed, Business Development Lead, Uber India the API integration onto the two leading apps have hailed Uber leverage its market share in India.
Uber had apparently launched its trip experiences API in Bengaluru towards the beginning of this year and thereafter integrated its API onto leading portals including Housing.com, Satyam Cinemas and Happitoo. Off late rumours have emerged regarding a developing Snapdeal Uber deal for integrating its services onto the e-commerce portal.
