Exclusive: Nexus 7 2013 To Be Priced Above Rs 20,000 in India

In July 2013, Google unveiled its latest and most awaited second generation Nexus 7 (2013) tablet and now it looks like the the much hyped Asus manufactured tablet will be launched in India soon. As per sources close to GizBot, the second generation Nexus 7 tablet will be officially launched in the country by November end.

 

On the sidelines of Transformer Book T100 and FonePad 7 launch event, a senior executive over at Asus India also revealed the price points of the tablet to GizBot. He informed, that the second version of Nexus 7 "should be priced anywhere between Rs. 20,000 - Rs. 25,000" in the Indian market.

 

The senior executive did not specify which version (16GB/32GB) of Nexus 7 (2013) will be made available to consumers at Rs. 20,000. But the source did confirm, the tablet will be available from both retail as well as Google Play store. He said, "Asus Nexus 7 (2013) will be sold by physical channels (Asus owned shops and other retail chains) as well as online route (Google Play store)."Meanwhile, the final call in respect to release date and pricing will be taken by Google.

Nexus 7 (2013) - Key Specs

The Nexus 7 (2013) is a second-generation 7-inch tablet jointly promoted by Google and Asus. The tablet has a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels at 323 PPI. Android Jelly Bean 4.3 operating system comes out of the box. The device is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor coupled with 2GB RAM .

There's a 5-megapixel rear facing camera and a 1.3-mega pixel camera on the front side of the tablet. The tablet will be available in 16GB/32GB of internal storage. The makers have added a 3,950mAh Li Ion battery. Other connectivity options include: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, microUSB, and HDMI connectivity.

The other big story that is making waves across the globe is when one can see a sequel to Nexus 10 . Reportedly, Asus is rumored to be working with Google to make second-generation Nexus 10. The last version of Nexus 10 was made by Samsung electronics. When asked whether Asus is making the next-version of Nexus 10, the senior executive told GizBot that Asus is not aware whether Google is working on the second-generation Nexus 10 or not.

Google is more inclined towards 7-inch form factor for tablets, so we may not see the sequel to Nexus 10 to be made by Asus. Also, the makers behind Nexus 7 clearly declined to reveal details about Android 4.4 Kitkat update. Google is rumored to reveal Android 4.4 Kitkat on November 1 alongside much anticipated Nexus 5.
