The new Android 7.0 Nougat is being rolled out slowly for the masses and Android loyalists are waiting for the update to arrive with eyes wide opened. It brings along a plethora of new features, with the most interesting one being the split-screen mode.

While this is not an entirely new feature for we've been seeing it on Samsung Galaxy smartphones for a long time, it's the very fact that the feature will be available for large part of Android users makes it more interesting.

If used correctly, the split-screen mode in the Android Nougat has the potential to get things done effortlessly and can come in very handy at times. For instance, you can watch a video on YouTube while texting your friend on WhatsApp. This is just a simple example, the possibilities are endless and it totally depends on how you plan to use it.

Speaking of which, using the multi-window or split-screen mode is a simple affair. Yet, a few users who have received the Android Nougat update seem to find it difficult to use the feature. So, here's a step-by-step guide which will help you master the split-screen mode.

Step 1: Launch at least two apps

Firstly, in order to use the multi-window mode on your smartphone, you'll have to launch at least two apps.

Step 2: Tap and hold on an app you want to use in split-screen mode

After launching multiple apps hit the recently launched apps button on your smartphone's screen, now tap and hold on the app you want to use in split-screen mode.

Step 3: Drag another app onto the second screen

The above step will enable the split-screen mode on your smartphone, now all you've to do is drag another app you want to use in tandem with the first app you selected.

Step 4: Resize both the apps to your liking

By now you must have been seeing two apps side-by-side or one-above-the-other depending on the smartphone's orientation. In case, you want to resize the amount of space allocated to one of the apps, just drag the black bar located in between the two apps on your screen.

Step 5: How to select a different app

If you're done with using a particular app and want to replace it with any other app, just click on the multitasking tab on the screen and choose from the apps you've already launched.
