Lenovo unveiled two phablets at their Tech World in June 2016, namely, the Phab 2 and Phab 2 Plus. The Phab 2 Plus is coming to India on November 8 and goes against the Xiaomi's Mi Max.
At the Lenovo Tech World 2016 event in San Francisco in June, Lenovo unveiled two new phablets- the Phab 2 and the Phab 2 Plus. The Lenovo Phab 2 Plus is priced at $200 (approx. Rs. 20,000) in other countries and we are expecting the phablet to be priced under Rs. 20,000. The Phab 2 Plus shares some common specifications with the Xiaomi Mi Max. So, here's our comparison of both the smartphones.
Almost Similar Display Size
The Xiaomi Mi Max comes with a 6.44-inch display with a resolution of 1080*1920 pixels and the upcoming Phab 2 Plus comes with the almost same display size of 6.4-inch which also has the same 1080*1920 pixel resolution. Both the smartphones have a 2.5D curved glass display.
Mid-Range Hardware
Both the Mi Max and Phab 2 Plus comes with mid-range hardware on board. The Mi Max features an hexacore Snapdragon 650 chipset along with 3GB RAM. Xiaomi recently launched the 4GB RAM variant of the smartphone.
On the flip side, the Phab 2 Plus will be powered by a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT8783 processor with 3GB of RAM. Both the smartphones offer 32GB internal storage with support for expandable storage via microSD card slot.
Lenovo Phab 2 Plus has Dual-Rear Camera
In terms of camera, the Phab 2 Plus slightly gets a nod because it has a 13MP dual rear camera and has support for Fujitsu Milbeaut ISPs, Laser AF, PDAF and a LED flash and an f/2.0 aperture. It also gets features such as refocus, background swap, extreme manual settings, and an Augmented-Reality special effects.
The Xiaomi Mi Max comes with a 16MP primary camera with 5p lens, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF autofocus, dual-tone flash and a 5MP front-facing camera. The Phab 2 Plus also has an 8MP front-facing camera.
Xiaomi Mi Max has a Bigger Battery
Xiaomi has been doing a great job in terms of battery. The Xiaomi Mi Max comes with a massive 4850mAh battery, which provides you a screen-on time of up to 8 hours. The Lenovo Phab 2 Plus comes with a smaller 4050mAh battery.
Both the smartphones run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the companies own Vibe UI and MIUI on top of it.
Verdict
Going by the specifications, both the smartphones are poised equally. However, the yet-to-be-launched Phab 2 Plus differentiates with Mi Max with its augmented reality capabilities, which will be the next big thing in smartphone technology.
The Mi Max is a great device with incredible battery life and a great design but doesn't have any unique feature to stand out from the crowd.
