Moto G73 vs Redmi Note 12 5G: Comparison

Motorola recently announced the Moto G73, a budget-friendly smartphone with a slew of exciting features at an affordable price. Despite the fact that Moto has released a capable offering, the smartphone market is more competitive than ever, and with Chinese competitors like Xiaomi, Realme, and Oppo, it will be interesting to see which phone will reign supreme. This time, Xiaomi's Redmi Note 12 5G will compete against the recently launched G73, and we'll see which phone is the better buy for the money.

Moto G73 vs Redmi Note 12 5G: Design

The Moto G73 has a boxy design with a hole-punch cutout in the center and thick bezels. The back panel is plastic and curves on the sides. The phone is available in two color options: Lucent White and Midnight Blue.

The Redmi Note 12 also has a boxy design with a center-hole punch cutout and thick bezels, but the front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and the back is made of polycarbonate glass, respectively. The device is IP53-certified and has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone comes in three colors: Frosted Green, Matte Black, and Mystique Blue.

Although the Redmi Note 12 is a few grams heavier than the G73, it has more color options.

Moto G73 vs Redmi Note 12 5G: Display

The Moto G73 has a 6.5-inch, 120Hz, IPS LCD display with HDR10 certification and a peak brightness of 1000 nits.

The Redmi Note 12 has a larger 6.67-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display with 1200 nits of peak brightness, but it lacks HDR certification.

AMOLED technology is generally preferred over LCD because it produces deeper blacks and crisp shadows while also preserving battery life.

Moto G73 vs Redmi Note 12 5G: Performance

The Moto has a better hardware package than the Redmi because it has MediaTek's newest Dimensity 930 SoC and 8GB of RAM.

The Redmi Note 12, on the other hand, is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 processor and either 4 or 6GB of RAM.

Moto G73 vs Redmi Note 12 5G: Camera

The Moto G73 has two cameras: a 50MP f/1.8 primary camera with PDAF and an 8MP ultrawide camera with a 118˚ field of view. A 16MP selfie camera is located on the front.

The Redmi Note 12 is equipped with three cameras: a 48MP f/1.8 primary camera with PDAF, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The device has a 13MP selfie camera.

Both smartphones can record video at 1080p resolution, but only the Moto can do so at 60fps, while the Redmi can only do so at 30.

Moto G73 vs Redmi Note 12 5G: Software

The Moto G73 comes pre-installed with the latest Android 13 OS and Moto's signature MyUX skin on top.

The Redmi Note 12 comes with an older Android 12 OS with MIUI 13 on top.

For the Moto G73, Motorola promises three years of security patches and one major Android update, while Xiaomi guarantees four years of security patches and two Android OS upgrades.

Although the stock approach of Moto's device is favorable and clean with less bloatware, the Redmi Note 12 will get a longer support window.

Moto G73 vs Redmi Note 12 5G: Battery

The batteries in both smartphones are 5,000mAh, but the Moto supports 30W wired charging while the Redmi supports 33W wired charging.

Moto G73 vs Redmi Note 12 5G: Conclusion

The Moto G73 has a faster and more powerful processor, more RAM, a better selfie camera, and the latest software with minimal bloatware.

The Redmi Note 12 has an AMOLED display and a dedicated macro camera, but the G73 is a better value-for-money phone because it outperforms the Redmi in many areas such as performance and software, which are ideal for a great user experience.
