Motorola Edge 70 Fusion vs Lava Agni 4 vs OnePlus Nord CE 5: Design & Build

All three phones adopt different design approaches. The OnePlus Nord CE 5 embodies the minimalist look, with no fancy visuals on the back or an over-the-top camera module. On the other hand, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion is the opposite with its textured back inspired by nylon and line as well as its curved display. Lava finds somewhat of a balance between style and simplicity with a matte back panel and a modern camera island.

Overall, the choice here largely depends on whether you prefer a clean minimalist design, a more distinctive premium look, or a balanced modern aesthetic.

In terms of build quality, the Agni 4 has Motorola and OnePlus beat. The Agni 4 has Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and AG glass on the back, not to mention a metal frame, which is unheard-of in this segment. The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion uses Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and a fabric back with a plastic frame.

The OnePlus Nord CE 5 opts for glass protection on the front but settles for a plastic back and middle frame. Both the OnePlus Nord CE 5 (IP65) and Lava Agni 4 (IP64) feature dust and splash resistance, although the Moto Edge 70 Fusion (IP68/IP69) offers the most comprehensive protection against dust and water.

The Lava Agni 4 (Review) emphasizes sturdier construction with its metal frame and glass build, while the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion focuses on superior dust and water resistance.

Motorola Edge 70 Fusion vs Lava Agni 4 vs OnePlus Nord CE 5: Dislpay & Performance

Both the Edge 70 Fusion and Agni 4 feature 1.5K OLED screens, although the former has a slightly higher 144Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the Nord CE 5's AMOLED has a lower FHD+ resolution. On paper, the Edge 70 Fusion has a relatively brighter screen than its competitors, although the Agni 4 was easily visible outdoors in our brief time with the device.

On balance, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion's display is the best of the three, both in terms of content consumption and gaming.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8350 SoC on the Lava Agni 4 and OnePlus Nord CE 5 is significantly faster than the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chip on the Edge 70 Fusion. The Dimensity 8350 chip also offers a major boost in GPU performance. In our testing, we found both the Agni 4 and OnePlus Nord CE 5 pretty evenly matched in benchmarking results. And while the Nord CE 5 does come with slower UFS 3.1 storage, it does have a larger cooling system.

Overall, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 and Lava Agni 4 don't just offer better performance than the Edge 70 Fusion but deliver some of the best numbers in the segment.

In terms of battery capacity, the Edge 70 and Nord CE 5 are pretty evenly matched and use silicon carbon cells, compared to the relatively smaller cell on the Agni 4. Additionally, all three phones support wired fast charging, with OnePlus being the fastest. On paper, the Edge 70 Fusion and Nord CE 5 should offer similar battery life.

Motorola Edge 70 Fusion vs OnePlus Nord CE 5 vs Lava Agni 4: Cameras & Software

For optics, the Lava Agni 4 boasts a dual camera setup on the back that includes a 50MP primary sensor (f/1.9 | 1/1.55") with OIS and PDAF and an 8MP ultrawide lens with a 112˚ FOV. Up front, the Agni 4 gets a high res 50MP selfie camera. The Agni 4 can capture 4K video recording at 60fps on both the 50MP rear and 50MP front cameras.

The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion's dual-camera setup is the most versatile of the two, with a 50MP primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture, 1/1.56") with OIS and PDAF and a 13MP ultrawide lens with Macro Vision, a 120˚ FOV and PDAF. Up front, the Edge 70 Fusion opts for a 32MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The Edge 70 Fusion supports 4K video recording at 30fps on both the front and rear cameras.

Finally, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 also feature a dual-camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture, 1/1.95") with OIS and PDAF and an 8MP ultrawide lens with a 112˚ FOV. Moving to the front camera, the Nord CE 5 opts for a 16MP selfie camera. The Nord CE 5 supports 4K video recording at 60fps on the main rear camera, dropping to 1080p at 30fps on the front camera.

Motorola Edge 70 Fusion vs OnePlus Nord CE 5 vs Lava Agni 4

Overall, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion offers the most versatile camera system thanks to its higher resolution 13MP ultrawide lens with Macro Vision and autofocus support. The Lava Agni 4, however, stands out for selfie enthusiasts and video creators, as it supports 4K recording at 60fps on both the rear and front cameras along with a high-resolution 50MP front sensor. Meanwhile, the OnePlus Nord CE 5 delivers a solid primary camera with 4K 60fps recording on the rear, but its smaller sensor size and lower-resolution selfie camera with limited video capabilities make it slightly less competitive than the other two in this comparison.

You can't really complain about the software experience on the three phones. All three phones offer a clean software experience with minima bloat and solid customizations options. You won't be disappointed with the software experience on any of these smartphones, so your choice should mainly boil down to software support.

  • Lava has promised three years of Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches, although it was released in 2025 on Android 15.
  • Motorola also promises three years of OS updates but adds five years of security updates. It is also the only one of the three phones to be released on Android 16.
  • The OnePlus Nord CE 5 will get four major Android OS updates and six years of regular security patches but was also released on Android 15 last year, nullifying its advantage over the Edge 70 Fusion.

Motorola Edge 70 Fusion vs OnePlus Nord CE 5 vs Lava Agni 4: Conclusion

Overall, each smartphone brings its own strengths to the mid-range segment. The Motorola Edge 70 Fusion stands out with its excellent display, strong water and dust resistance, versatile cameras, and the advantage of launching with Android 16. Meanwhile, the Lava Agni 4 5G impresses with its premium metal-and-glass build and strong performance, making it a compelling choice for users who prioritize durability and power.

The OnePlus Nord CE 5, on the other hand, delivers top-tier performance and the longest software support among the three, along with fast charging that leads the segment. Ultimately, the right choice depends on your priorities: the Edge 70 Fusion for a balanced all-round experience, the Agni 4 for build quality and selfies, and the Nord CE 5 for performance and long-term software support.
