Oppo R9s Plus vs R9s: The Battle of Selfie-Centric Smartphones
Oppo, after a several leaks, has finally launched the R9s and R9s Plus. Here’s how both of them differ from each other.
Oppo, one of the largest Chinese smartphone manufacturer has finally showcased the successors of its R9 series smartphones - the R9s and R9s Plus.
For the unknown, Oppo's R9 series of smartphones highly focus on camera department, especially on the selfie shooter while providing top-of-the-line hardware for what it's worth.

Both carry Oppo’s trademark design
The Oppo R9s and R9s Plus, both carry Oppo's trademark design language which not to mention is a clear rip-off of Apple iPhone 6 Plus's design. They carry a sleek body design and look very similar to each other, so similar that you'll not be able to distinguish between the two just by visuals.
Bigger mean better? Not always!
The Oppo R9s features a 2.5D curved 5.5-inch display while the R9s Plus features a 6-inch display both at a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. What this essentially means is that the R9s has a better pixel density in comparison to its bigger sibling owing to the smaller footprint of the device (Oppo R9s).

Decent Hardware
While the Oppo R9s is equipped with a Snapdragon 625 chipset, its bigger brother, the R9s Plus features the all new Snapdragon 653 SoC under-the-hood. It is worth mentioning the fact that this is the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 653 chipset.
In terms of memory, the former packs 4GB of RAM with the latter featuring a whopping 6GB of RAM. Both the smartphones come with 64GB of onboard storage which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.
Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box
Both R9s and R9s Plus run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with a layer of Oppo's own Color OS on top of it.

16MP camera at the back and front
Here comes the segment you've been long waiting for. Every single camera on the R9s and R9s Plus feature a 16MP camera (pun intended), they differ in terms of the aperture, though.
Camera has been the major USP for Oppo's smartphones for a while now. The R9s and R9s Plus are no exception. Both of them feature Sony's IMX398 sensor with dual-focus technology.
The smaller R9s comes with EIS (electronic image stabilisation) whereas the R9s Plus comes with OIS (optical image stabilisation). Both of them support 4K video recording.
VOOC fast charging
The R9s depends on a 3,010mAh battery for the juice whereas a 4,000mAh battery provides juice for the R9s Plus. Both the smartphone's support Oppo's proprietary VOOC fast charging technology.

Verdict
The Oppo R9s is priced at CNY 2,799 while the R9s Plus is priced at CNY 3,499 which roughly translate to Rs. 27,733 and Rs. 34,670 respectively.
Both the smartphones are quite similar in most of the aspects. It all boils down to your preference. If you don't mind spending a few extra bucks for bigger screen and OIS, you're most welcome. However, if you don't want make a hole in your pocket Oppo R9s is what you should look at.
All said and done, at the same price for what the R9s ships, you can purchase the OnePlus 3 which is certainly the best smartphone available under the Rs. 30,000 segment.
