Design, Build, Display

In terms of design, there's nothing separating both smartphones, apart from their size. The one difference here on the A55 is that the two buttons on the right protrude from the frame. The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G features Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection on the front and unnamed Gorilla Glass on the front.

The Galaxy S23 FE, on the other hand, features Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both the front and back. Both phones feature dust and water resistance, but the S23 FE has an IP68 rating, while the Galaxy A55 5G downgrades to an IP67 rating.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G features a larger screen than the Galaxy A23 FE. While both displays appear similar on paper, the Galaxy S23 FE uses a superior panel with a higher peak brightness and HDR10+ support. It also features better color reproduction.

Performance, Battery, Software

The Galaxy S23 FE's Exynos 2200 chipset has a significant advantage over the Exynos 1480 SoC on the Galaxy A55 5G. There shouldn't be any hiccups while multitasking, but gaming and editing is where the Galaxy S23 FE will excel.

The Samsung Galaxy A55 5G has an advantage in the battery department with the incorporation of a larger cell. However, charging support is the same on both phones, although the S23 FE also supports wireless and reverse wireless charging. Both handsets don't come with an adapter in the box.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy A55 5G both run Android 14 out of the box with One UI 6 on top. Additionally, software support is also the same on both phones - Four Android OS and Five Years of Regular Security Updates. However, the Galaxy S23 FE was released on Android 13, meaning one less OS update over the A55 5G.

Cameras

Both the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy A55 5G use a 50 MP primary camera sensor with OIS and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. However, the Galaxy S23 FE opts for an 8 MP telephoto unit with OIS and 3x optical zoom, while the Galaxy A55 5G settles for a 5 MP macro unit.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE uses a 10 MP selfie shooter as opposed to the 32 MP front camera on the Galaxy A55 5G. It is worth noting that megapixel count isn't everything and we cannot declare a winner without testing both cameras.

However, we can declare a clear winner on the video front as the Galaxy S23 FE supports 4K video recording up to 60fps and 8K at 24fps. It also supports 4K 60fps video recording on the front camera. On the other hand, the Galaxy A55 5G's video recording capability is limited to 4K 30fps on the front and rear cameras.

Samsung Galaxy A55 vs Galaxy S23 FE: Which One Should You Buy?

The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE price in India starts from Rs 54,999 for the base 8GB/128GB model, while the 8GB/256GB variant will set you back Rs 59,999. It is worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE are available at discounted prices on Flipkart and Amazon India, putting them in the sub-50K segment.

Moreover, the Samsung Galaxy A55 5G price in India starts from Rs 39,999 for the base 8GB/128GB configuration. It also comes in an 8GB/256GB and a 12GB/256GB version that costs Rs 42,999 and Rs 45,999, respectively.

The choice between the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy A55 5G ultimately comes down to price. If you can get the Galaxy S23 FE at a discounted price, it is the much better option, offering better cameras, faster performance, and a brighter and more color accurate display.

However, pricing is also something to consider, especially if you cannot get the Galaxy S23 FE at a discount. So your final decision will ultimately come down to price. At Rs 54,999, the upgrades on the Galaxy S23 FE aren't worth the extra cost, but at its current Rs 46,999 price tag on Flipkart, it is worth the upgrade.
