After much delay Xiaomi has now released Android Marshmallow based MIUI ROM for three of its most popular phones ever, namely the Mi3, Mi4 and Mi Note. It's however worth noting that these are beta build of MIUI, with the stable build expected to roll down sooner than later.
Towards the beginning of 2016, GizBot had exclusively reported that Xiaomi has kick started development of the Marshmallow based ROM in India. So the Global Beta Build announcement doesn't come up as a surprise. Besides Xiaomi has already launched the Chinese Beta Build of the Marshmallow ROM for the above mentioned devices.
To try out the new Marshmallow flavoured ROM on your device, you need to first download the ROM package from the official forum link here and there follow it up by flashing it onto your device using FastBoot method. As expected the Marshmallow based Beta build of Global MIUI ROM brings with them a number of new features. Besides that the ROM contains a number of bug-fixes and software optimization.
Xiaomi has bumped up the security elements of its MIUI ROM. Post the flashing the Marshmallow based MIUI 6.3.17 build, user can add an account lock that avoids pick pocketers from removing your Xiaomi account from your lost device thereby denying you access to track your phone remotely.
While the Permissions Manager is nothing new to MIUI, the Marshmallow update brings with it a number of intuitive features that weren't there before. The Permission manager now supports home screen shortcuts and provides you the option to restrict access of all apps on your device to a specific permission in a single step.
Do you transfer heavy files on the go among your friends? Well, then you must be having some Wireless transfer apps like Xender on your Xiaomi smartphone. However, you won't be needing now as the in-built File Explorer of MIUI 6.3.17 comes with Wireless Transfer facility among two device.
Xiaomi has been working on their Cache and Memory cleaner software ever since the inception of MIUI. The updated Cleaner app on the latest build of MIUI comes with deep clear support for apk and video files.
The Chinese upstart brand has made some improvement in their in-built file manager. It now comes with new Card design that makes it look cleaner than before. Apart from that it now has Shortcuts to download and option for Hidden folders.
