These Samsung Galaxy A-Series Phones Could Get One UI 8 Based on Android 16 – Is Yours on the List?

Samsung's next major Android update, One UI 8, is already in motion. Public beta testing has begun with the Galaxy S25 series (coming for the S23 and S24 series soon), even before Android 16's official release later this month.

The stable version of One UI 8 is expected to arrive later this summer, starting with Samsung's upcoming foldables-the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7-before trickling down to midrange devices.

And with every software milestone, a new wave of questions follows: Is my phone getting the update? While Samsung hasn't officially confirmed which models are eligible, a recent report from Gizmochina has compiled a detailed list of Galaxy A-series phones likely to receive the update, based on Samsung's standard update policy.

Galaxy A-Series Phones Likely to Get One UI 8

According to Gizmochina, here's the expected list:

  • Galaxy A73
  • Galaxy A56
  • Galaxy A55
  • Galaxy A54
  • Galaxy A53
  • Galaxy A36
  • Galaxy A35
  • Galaxy A34
  • Galaxy A33
  • Galaxy A26
  • Galaxy A25
  • Galaxy A24
  • Galaxy A16 (LTE and 5G)
  • Galaxy A15 (LTE and 5G)
  • Galaxy A06 (LTE and 5G)

This list includes both last year's and current-gen models, in line with Samsung's usual two to four years of software support depending on device tier. Phones not listed may still receive updates, but confirmation will only come when Samsung shares its final rollout roadmap.

Smaller Update, But A More Timely One?

One UI 7 left many users frustrated due to staggered rollouts, device exclusions, and feature inconsistencies across models. Samsung seems to be approaching One UI 8 with more structure.

By beginning beta testing early and keeping the update relatively lean, the company may be aiming for faster deployment and fewer compatibility issues this time around.

One UI 8 Features

According to a detailed breakdown by SamMobile, Samsung's One UI 8 focuses on refining the overall experience rather than reinventing it. Quick Share now lets you send and receive files directly from the Quick Settings panel, making the process much more convenient.

The My Files app includes a new filter option that sorts downloads based on the app used to fetch them, which is helpful when digging through recent files. Samsung Internet has also been redesigned, giving users a cleaner menu with more customizable layout options to better match individual browsing styles.

Multitasking improvements stand out as well. You can now slide one app to the side in split-screen mode while keeping another in full focus, which is useful for side-by-side comparisons or focused work.

Samsung DeX now supports WQHD resolutions and screen rotation when connected to external displays. The Reminders app has been refreshed with categorized tabs and smarter suggestions for task creation.

On top of that, One UI 8 introduces better accessibility features, improved camera gestures, and a more private Secure Folder setup, all aimed at enhancing usability without overwhelming users with change.
