Vivo X90 Pro vs Vivo X80 Pro Display, Battery
While both phones feature a similarly sized curved AMOLED display, the X80 Pro has a higher resolution. Moreover, the Vivo X80 Pro's screen features LTPO technology for an adaptive refresh rate between 1Hz to 120Hz. The Vivo X80 Pro also has a higher resolution and a slightly brighter display.
Battery capacity and charging capabilities of the two phones are nearly similar, with the Vivo X90 Pro offering faster wired charging. While the LTPO screen on the Vivo X80 Pro does enable better power efficiency, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset was by no means an efficient chip. So you should be able to squeeze out more battery life from the Vivo X90 Pro.
Vivo X80 Pro vs Vivo X90 Pro Cameras
Straight off the bat, the Vivo X80 Pro has a noticeable advantage with four cameras as opposed to three on the X90 Pro as the former offers more versatility. Additionally, the higher resolution ultrawide camera on the X80 Pro will offer better shots, considering Vivo uses the same 48 MP sensor on the X90 Pro Plus.

Moreover, the Vivo X80 Pro also delivers better zoom performance due to the lack of a periscope lens on the X90 Pro. Gimbal OIS is also missing from the Vivo X90 Pro. However, this is where the Vivo 80 Pro's advantages end and the X90 Pro's begins.
First off, the Vivo X90 Pro uses a 1-inch camera sensor, which is larger than that on the Vivo X80 Pro. Moreover, the X90 Pro also has a larger 50 MP portrait camera as opposed to the 12 MP portrait lens on the Vivo X80 Pro.
Apart from the ton of quality improvements that come with the larger sensors, the Vivo X90 Pro also features a ton of portrait modes. Lastly, the Vivo X90 Pro also uses an updated V2 imaging chip, which gives it another advantage over the X80 Pro's V1+ chip.
Vivo X90 Pro vs Vivo X80 Pro Performance, Software
This should be a no-brainer, considering generational improvements always come with a boost in performance. But it may be closer than you think, with the Vivo X90 Pro just edging out its predecessor. This is primarily down to the fact that games are better optimised for Snapdragon chips.
However, the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chip outpaces the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, while the Vivo X90 Pro also comes with faster RAM and storage. We haven't tested out the Vivo X90 Pro but we're confident that it will be able to push ahead of the X80 Pro. And while both phones have similar software, the Vivo X90 Pro will offer support for a whole extra year.
Final Thoughts
Considering the price difference between the Vivo X90 Pro and Vivo X80 Pro is quite minimal, this should be a no-brainer, with the newer Vivo X90 Pro coming out as the obvious choice. However, the Vivo X90 and V80 Pro trade blows across the various areas. But let's see which one comes out on top!
The Vivo X80 Pro has a more versatile camera setup and a better display than its successor. Moreover, the X80 Pro's chipset and battery life aren't far behind and can easily match up to the Vivo X90 Pro. The Vivo X80 Pro also offers better zoom and ultrawide camera performance than its successor. Additionally, you'll also save Rs 5,000 going for the Vivo X80 Pro.
However, if you are primarily here for camera quality, then we'd go with the Vivo X90 Pro, opting for quality over versatility. The main and portrait cameras here are the stars of the show, capable of capturing incredible shots, including excellent portrait shots through the many modes. The V2 imaging chip also brings a few improvements over its predecessor.
