Motorola Moto G (2014) Full Review: Camera and Video
Samsung has effectively upped the handset's camera from a 5MP model to an 8MP sensor. Apart from that, the camera lens is also faster, moving from an f/2.4 lens to an f/2.0 one.
The camera on the new Moto G is also quite fun to use mostly since it's faster this time around. Where the 2013 Moto G has been slow to shoot, the 2014 version is impressively fast.
Also the images look quite bright and life like with the colour accuracy and contrast hugely improving.
The new Moto G makes use of a custom Motorola camera app whose interface is different. You will locate that this time around, there's no settings or mode button visible on-screen. And to bring on the Mode dial, you have to flick from the left side of the screen to the right.
The resulting shots from the camera come out pretty excellent in good light. It normally tends to pick up most of the details and offers genuine color reproduction that's good enough for all your social adventures.
However, we have seen that the camera does tend to struggle a bit when there are multiple sources of light. And although Motorola does offer an HDR shooting mode for the same, but it may not be as bright as you might expect.
