Android O will be the last big OS update for OnePlus 3 and 3T
OnePlus 3 and 3T users should definitely check this out.
OnePlus has a good track record of rolling out regular software updates to its smartphones. The company kept the name with the newly released OnePlus 5 as well as the recent flagship has been receiving updates right from the day one.

While we are sure that the OnePlus 5 will get the Android O update without any delay, a recent post by the company has clarified regarding the support that will be offered to the yesteryear flagships - OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.
According to the OnePlus Forums, the Head of Product at OnePlus, Oliver Z has revealed that the Android O will be the last major update to be rolled out to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. This information was revealed while he was answering questions on the forum. He further revealed that the Android O update will be rolled out along with security patches and individual app updates as well for the near future. The Open Beta Program will move on to the OnePlus 5 once the OnePlus 3 and 3T receive the Android O update.
Talking about the upcoming updates for the OnePlus 3 and 3T smartphones, he did mention that these smartphones will soon get the August security patches. The Oxygen 4.5.8 build that was rolled out to the OnePlus 5 in the last week will also hit these yesteryear models within a month or two.
Eventually, the OnePlus 3 and 3T will catch up with the latest flagship's OxygenOS version though these phones will not get all the major features of the OnePlus 5. To be precise, the off-screen gestures, DCI-P3 screen calibration, and reading mode will not be rolled out to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T due to the hardware differences.
