CMF Phone (1) Is Officially Arriving Soon, Confirms Nothing
Carl Pei's startup, Nothing, has officially announced the debut of its sub-brand's first smartphone, the CMF Phone (1). This announcement follows a series of teasers hinting at interesting design elements, including orange accents and a leather finish. Here's everything we know about the upcoming device.
A New Entry Point in Nothing's Ecosystem
The CMF Phone (1) is being positioned as an entry-level device within Nothing's product ecosystem. The teaser image revealed on social media shows a rotating circular ring, akin to the design of the CMF Neckband Pro earphones. However, the specific functionality of this feature remains a mystery until the phone's official launch.

Nothing aims to leverage its established reputation for design and innovation with this new model. The company hints that the CMF Phone (1) will be affordably priced, likely under ₹20,000, making it accessible to a broader audience.
Design and Specifications
Speculation is rife regarding the phone's design. The teaser images suggest a replaceable plastic back panel, secured by a visible screw, offering potential customization options with various colors and designs. This design choice indicates that the CMF Phone (1) will not feature Nothing's signature Glyph interface.
Recent leaks and rumors have provided insights into the phone's specifications. The CMF Phone (1) is expected to sport a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This screen is slightly smaller than the 6.7-inch AMOLED panel on the Nothing Phone (2a).
Under the hood, the CMF Phone (1) will likely be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, paired with a Mali-G610 MC4 GPU, up to 8GB of RAM, and options for 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The device is also rumored to include a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, compared to the 45W charging support on the Nothing Phone (2a).
Camera and Other Features
The CMF Phone (1) is expected to feature a dual-camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor and an as-yet-unrevealed secondary sensor. For selfies and video calls, a 16MP front-facing camera is anticipated. Unlike other models in the Nothing lineup, the CMF Phone (1) will not include the Glyph interface or NFC support.
The phone will run on the Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.6 custom skin, ensuring a smooth and customizable user experience.
Launch Timeline and Pricing
Nothing has confirmed that the CMF Phone (1) will launch soon, with speculations pointing to a July 2024 release. Pricing is expected to start at around $249 (approximately ₹20,785) for the 128GB model and $279(approximately ₹23,290) for the 256GB model.
