The recent information comes from Andy Rubin via a blog post. He has confirmed that the Essential Phone will receive Android OS updates for two years and monthly security updates for three years. He has also announced that the smartphone is up for sale via Amazon, Best Buy, Sprint and Essential.com in the U.S. The smartphone will soon be made available via all the leading carriers. As a limited period offer, the Essential Phone is priced at $699 and those who want the Essential 360 Camera can get it along with the phone for $749.

Besides the Essential 360 Camera, the company is in plans to release new wireless accessories in the coming months. It is believed that these accessories will work well with the other products such as Essential Home. Rubin adds that the smartphone has no branding and that there will be only a few preloaded apps and no other duplicative services.

The highlight of this smartphone is the magnetic connector that is located at the top right corner of the back panel. The 360-degree camera accessory can be connected to the smartphone using this connector. The camera has dual 12MP fisheye lenses with f/1.8 aperture and a 210-degree field of view. This camera can record 360-degree videos at UHD resolution. Also, there is a docking stating for the smartphone to quick recharge itself.

Recently, we saw that the smartphone will be showcased at an event to be held on August 25 in Los Angeles in the United States. Also, another report tipped that the shipping of the pre-ordered units of the Essential Phone will debut in the next week.
