Exclusive: Coolpad plans to launch 3 more devices by June this year

Coolpad is also discussing internally to set up a manufacturing plant in India, and there are chances that company will make an announcement, in the second half of the next year.

Chinese smartphone maker Coolpad launched two smartphones in India last week but it just seems to be a 'warm-up' affair for a major launch spree in the coming months. While speaking to Gizbot company's CEO Syed Tajuddin, exclusively told that they are going to launch 3 more phones in the month of May and June.

Syed said that "We were in the transformation phase from last six months but now we are all set to launch three smartphones." He further went on to say with conviction that all three devices will be available on Amazon.

Yet another interesting peg that seemed to be buried in the conversation that we were having was the price-point of the three devices. Although we might have likely guessed it at some point in time before the launch, the company's top-man revealed that these devices would cost less than Rs. 12,000. Looking at the recent trend and new launches it seems that demand for an affordable segment is continuously growing.

It was also interesting to hear from Mr. Syed about some background story related to the upcoming launches from Coolpad. While Coolpad's initial plan to launch their devices in India was slated for December last year, it couldn't. When asked why, the India head for Coolpad told us that LeEco was the is shareholder they had and the fact that they disappeared from India and even in China, particularly affected them.

Syed further said that "We have recently received the fresh investment of $600 million from Chinese investors and it is for the Indian and the US markets." Although, he didn't delve into the details related to the allocation of the fund segment or business-wise, we can guess, that the company might scale up quite heavily in the smartphone segment. While the Indian market will be explored in length by the company, we were also vaguely informed about its American venture.

The company has recently launched two devices in India i.e Coolpad A1 and Coolpad Mega 4A at affordable prices.

Coolpad A1 is equipped with an 8-megapixel rear camera and the 5-megapixel front camera. It comes with 5.0-inch Full HD display, 1280 x 720 pixels to ensure a great viewing experience and have Android Nougat 7.1 priced at Rs 5,499 and will be available in the gold color variant. The smartphone is already available at 3000 multi-brand stores across states: Delhi NCR, Haryana, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Coolpad Mega 4A is equipped with a 5-megapixel back camera and 2-megapixel front camera. It has a sleek design with a 5.0-inch Full HD display, a battery capacity of 2000mAh and Android Nougat 7.1 priced at Rs. 4,299 and it is available in the Gold color variant.
