Google Pixel 8a: New Orange Color, IP67 Protection, AI Features, and More Revealed in Leaked Promo Materials
The anticipation for Google's latest addition to the Pixel 8 series, the Pixel 8a, is building up as leaks continue to surface, offering a glimpse into its features and specifications. Here's what we know so far.
Design and Features Leaked marketing materials, courtesy of Evan Blass, have unveiled several aspects of the Pixel 8a. The smartphone will be available in four color options: Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Mint. Notably, a new bright orange color has been hinted at, expanding the color lineup.

Similar to its predecessor, the Pixel 7a, the Pixel 8a is expected to feature Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for its display. It boasts an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, ensuring durability in various environments.

Specifications and Performance Under the hood, the Pixel 8a is rumored to be powered by the Tensor G3 chip, providing seamless performance for everyday tasks. The device is speculated to sport a 64MP primary camera with OIS, accompanied by a 13MP ultra-wide camera and a 13MP front camera, promising impressive photography capabilities.
Additional Features and Pricing Google aims to deliver a comprehensive user experience with the Pixel 8a by integrating various AI features such as Magic Eraser, Audio Magic Eraser, Best Take, Circle to Search, and Live Translate. Moreover, the smartphone is anticipated to offer up to 24 hours of battery life and support for wireless charging.
As for pricing, leaked information suggests that the base model of the Pixel 8a with 128GB storage could be priced at $499, with a 256GB variant costing $559. In the Indian market, the smartphone may be priced slightly higher, around Rs 43,999.
Lastly, the phone will get seven years of Android and security updates, just like the Pixel 8 series.
Launch Date While an official launch date for the Pixel 8a is yet to be confirmed, speculations hint at a possible unveiling around the Google I/O event scheduled for May 14.
