HMD to launch Nokia 9 in the US, Nokia 8 page removed
Nokia 9 will be released in the US and not Nokia 8.
The flagship smartphone from HMD, the Nokia 8 is being released in the global markets in phases. When it comes to the U.S. market, there were reports pointing out that the smartphone will receive some tweaks before its launch over there. In fact, the Nokia 8 webpage was also available on the official Nokia U.S. site.
However, it looks there has been a sudden change in HMD's plans when it comes to Nokia 8's release in the U.S. As per a report by NokiaPowerUser citing a screenshot sent by one of their readers, Rex Fryhover, the Head of Sales at HMD US has sent an email confirming that the Nokia 8 will not be released in the U.S. The screenshot mentions that the smartphone is not banded properly for the U.S.
While this email confirms that the Nokia 8 US release plans have been shelved by the company, the Nokia 8 page has also been pulled down from the Nokia US website, claims another report by NokiaPowerUser. This is not the only one that HMD will not take to the USA. In the first batch of phones, only the Nokia 6 was released in the American market. The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 did not make their way into the country.
The report tips that the Nokia 6 will be followed by the Nokia 9 in the US market. The plans are subjected to change based on the feedback that HMD receives from the sales and marketing teams in the country.
Talking about the upcoming flagship smartphone - the Nokia 9, it is clear that the smartphone might feature an edge-to-edge 3D glass display and a bezel-less design. HMD is believed to unveil the Nokia 9 along with the Nokia 2 and Nokia 7 at the MWC 2018 tech show in February next year. The smartphone might feature an iris scanner, 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB storage space. It is also said to be water and dust resistant with the IP68 rating.
The Nokia 9 is believed to feature a premium design based on the concept renders those emerged online lately. From the previous reports, the smartphone is believed to be priced around 749 euros (approx. Rs. 57,000). It is believed that similar to the Nokia 8, the Nokia 9 will also feature dual rear cameras with the Carl Zeiss branding.
