Honor 7X starts receiving new update: Adds face unlock, AR Lens and more

Huawei's sub-brand Honor, as promised, is now rolling out a new software update for Honor 7X smartphone. The update comes with build number B192 and it brings exciting new features to the device. The key highlight of this update is that it now brings the much-awaited Face Unlock function along with some added features like AR Lens, redesigned Weather application and it also brings January 2018 security patch along with bug fixes.

Currently, the new update is being rolled out in China for Honor 7X (review) with model number AL10. At the moment, there's no official changelog available but Technology blog The Android Soul has reported about this case. No information has been provided as to when the update will be coming to the Indian market. But it should be coming soon looking at how things are progressing.

In any case, talking about the new features, the update adds Face Unlock and this feature will be available under Settings > Security and privacy > Face Unlock. With this feature user will be able to unlock the smartphone with their Face and there should be few more functions that the users will be entitled to like payment authentication and more.

The update also adds smart lock screen notifications feature, which basically hides the content of notifications on the lock screen. Besides, users should now be able to display lock screen notifications using their face. Users can activate this feature by diving into the Settings > Security and privacy > Face Unlock > Smart lock screen notifications.

Honor 7X also gets a new AR lens feature and it can be found in the default Camera application. To access it users can head over to the Camera > Modes > AR lens. This feature allows users to change the background or add layers to the selfies.

And finally, Honor 7X update brings a new Weather application with better location tracking optimizations and accurate city names.

Meanwhile, Honor 7X has gained the status of being the best mid-range smartphone in the segment. All in all, with the addition of new features, Honor looks set to attract more consumers in the market and at the same time increase traction for this device.
