Huawei to launch its first 5G smartphone in 2019
Huawei has confirmed its first 5G- enabled smartphone, which is going to arrive next year in the third quarter. Here are the more details.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has confirmed its first 5G- enabled handset in the middle of its global analyst summit in Shenzhen. The company has claimed that the smartphone will arrive in the second half of 2019.

Coordinating with the global rollout of 5G networks, Huawei has decided to announce its first 5G smartphone in third-quarter of 2019. Which will be a late summer release next year. Huawei is yet to confirm the specifications of the new smartphone including its name. Considering that the support for the new networks will initially be reserved for the top-end flagship phones. So we can say that 5G network modems could be expected in 2019's Mate lineup.
The first 5G smartphone from Huawei might be the Mate 30. While looking at the release history of the Mate series, we can expect a Mate phone to drop in Q3 of 2019, which lines up nicely with this 5G announcement.
The company has unveiled its first 5G modem back in February, during the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018. Although the company has designed this modem for much larger objects like self-driving cars and more Huawei has also narrow it down to smartphones.
When it comes to smartphones, the company need to develop a much smaller alternative, so it will be a long wait time. However, the new 5G smartphone modems are not reserved only for Huawei's own devices. Consumers around the world can take advantage of the new 5G modems for manufacturing their own devices.

Let's see what Huawei is going to choose, whether to debut the 5G modems with the well-known Mate lineup, or all together launch a separate smartphone series for testing out the technology.
However, the company is aiming to achieve 1.1 billion 5G connections established by 2025 and over 200 million 5G-ready vehicles. It seems Huawei is planning for something really big, which will potentially be a game-changing technology.

There is no further information available about the 5G-enabled handsets. However, before announcing the smartphone, the company will launch its first Huawei 5G mobile hotspot in the second quarter of 2019.
