iPhone 15 Series’ Camera Specs Unveiled Ahead of September 12 Launch
Apple's Wonderlust event is just a few days away, and it'll be the showcase for Apple's highly anticipated (and highly leaked) iPhone 15 series. With a lineup comprising four models: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra, let's take a look at a new report by MacRumors that shares details on the camera tech of these iPhones.
What We Know So Far
According to a recent report from MacRumors, significant improvements are in store for the iPhone 15 series.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
Both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to feature a 48MP primary rear sensor with an impressive f/1.6 aperture. This represents a significant leap forward from the 12MP main sensor found in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. In addition, these models are said to include a secondary 12MP sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens and an f/2.4 aperture.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
These models are set to be equipped with a 48MP Sony IMX803 primary rear sensor boasting an f/1.78 aperture. Furthermore, they will include a 12.7MP sensor with a telephoto lens and an f/2.8 aperture, as well as a 13.4MP sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens featuring an f/2.2 aperture. The high-end iPhone 15 Pro Max is also rumored to incorporate a periscopic telephoto lens for better optical zoom.
What to Expect in Terms of Design and Pricing
Apart from camera enhancements, there are whispers of design and pricing changes in the iPhone 15 series.
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 15 Pro variants may come at a higher cost compared to their predecessors, primarily due to hardware upgrades. These upgrades are rumored to include a new titanium chassis in place of the stainless steel ones used in previous models. The new chassis is expected to reduce the weight of the iPhone models, making them even more user-friendly and comfortable to hold.
A Global Release, with a Twist for India
Apple may have some good news for Indian consumers this year. Reports suggest that the iPhone 15 models manufactured under the Make in India campaign are likely to be released at the same time as the global release, with minimal or no delays. This is expected to please Indian Apple fans who will now be able to purchase the latest iPhone on the same day as the rest of the world.
