Chinese smartphone brand iQOO is set to unveil its Neo 9 series next month, succeeding the Neo 8 lineup launched earlier this year. The company had initially been rumored to launch the series in Q1 2024, but a recent Weibo post has officially confirmed the December launch timeline.
Design Teaser Unveiled
In a visually enticing Weibo announcement, iQOO provided a sneak peek into the design of the upcoming Neo 9 series. The teaser image showcases one of the Neo 9 models in a striking red hue with a distinctive white strip along the left side, hinting at a possible leather back. The device exhibits a sleek metallic frame, and the right side is adorned with the power button and volume keys.

Notable Features
The Neo 9 series is expected to boast a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. Rumors suggest that the base Neo 9 might be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, while the Pro variant could feature the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC. The devices are speculated to offer up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage.
Camera and Battery Insights
Although specific camera details remain elusive, reports hint at a 50MP Sony IMX920 primary camera for the Neo 9 series. Additionally, the smartphones are rumored to pack a robust 5,000mAh battery with support for rapid 120W fast charging. On the software front, the devices are expected to run Android 14 with Funtouch OS, tailored to enhance user experience.

A recent sighting on China's 3C certification site revealed that the Neo 9 Pro model (V2339A) is anticipated to support up to 120W wired charging, aligning with its predecessor. Charger listings for this model indicate compatibility with various output levels, including 15W, 18W, 66W, and the impressive 120W. Moreover, they are reported to support multiple outputs via USB Power Delivery and up to 100W charging through the PPS protocol.
Previous Models and Pricing
To provide context, the Neo 8 series featured the Neo 8 and Neo 8 Pro, equipped with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and a MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, respectively. Both models boasted a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display and a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support. The Neo 8 series offered color options such as Night Rock, Match Point, and Surf, with the base model priced at CNY 2,499 and the Neo 8 Pro starting at CNY 3,299 during the launch.
