Lenovo Teases Upcoming Launch, 5G Chipset Expected

|

The next major trend in the smartphone industry seems to be the support for 5G connectivity. While some big brands have come up with a 5G smartphone, almost all smartphone manufacturers are in plans to bring one soon. In addition to smartphones, it looks like there is a competition in terms of in-house chipset too.

Lenovo Teases Upcoming Launch, 5G Chipset Expected

Well, going by a recent teaser shared by Lenovo, the company seems to be working on a new 5G chipset. Lenovo's team has taken to Weibo to tease the upcoming 5G processor. Besides the teaser image, they have also listed out all the existing 5G enabled chipsets. And, have stated, "5G SoC released next week is full of flowers, but the real trump card is still on the way."

Lenovo 5G Chipset Teased

This is quite surprising as we have not come across any leaks and speculations regarding Lenovo's 5G chipset till date. The teaser does not divulge any details regarding the upcoming product expect for "5G" and the company logo. There are possibilities for it to be a smartphone or a chipset, but the latter is suggested by GizmoChina.

While there is no clarity regarding when the Lenovo 5G chipset could see the light of the day, there are claims that it could be launched in the coming weeks. Well, this is the right time for Lenovo to launch a chipset with 5G support as Qualcomm is all set to take the wraps off its next flagship chipset in the first week of December. Also, MediaTek has come up with its own 5G SoC, thereby stepping foot into the high-end market segment.

Lenovo To Join Other Brands

Not only Lenovo but also Oppo is in plans to launch its own processor with 5G support and this has been speculated for quite some time. So, once these chipsets are launched, then we can expect both the companies to join the already existing list of smartphone brands that have their own chipsets such as Samsung, Apple, and Huawei.

Moreover, if the Lenovo 5G chipset is launched in the coming weeks, then we can expect a 5G smartphone powered by this chipset to be launched sometime next year. But an official confirmation is awaited.
