Motorola Razr 2020 Patent Hints At Modular Component Designs
Foldable smartphones are gaining popularity with many tech giants rolling out their iterations. Motorola has recently launched the revamped Moto Razr and is reportedly working on the next model. The Motorola Razr 2020 patent has been spotted by LetsGoDigital recently and the foldable premium smartphone is likely to pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset.
Motorola Razr 2020 Modular Component
The patent shows the traditional Moto Razr design alongside a modular design in the upcoming smartphone and is believed to combine certain external modular components. The image shows a 'Motorola foldable phone with a fisheye camera'.
When the smartphone is folded shut, it looks just like any other smartphone. However, there are external modular components that pop up to open the camera, which is believed to have a fisheye lens in it. There are no further details about the camera sensors or its capabilities.
The Motorola Razr 2020 patent image shows the 'modular foldable phone' as well. The image shows how the smartphone can be expanded to have a long, rectangular screen. At the same time, it can be folded into a modular component that easily fits in the pocket.
Motorola Razr 2020: Similar To Moto Mods?
Looking at the patent, the device looks compact and versatile - even more than the recently launched revamped Moto Razr smartphone. Moreover, reports state that the patented device is similar to the Moto Mods.
The Moto Mods are versatile add on that can convert the smartphone into a power bank or a projector or even into a magnifying lens. It can even be used as an advanced camera. As long as the Moto Mods are connected to a phone, it can easily be upgraded into a powerful gadget. The new Motorola Razr 2020 is expected to have such versatile features.
The Motorola Razr 2020 patent was officially filed and published way back in August 2018. However, it has recently been placed in the World Intellectual Property Office database. Also, one should note that patented design may or may not make it to the market, as the company could scrap the Motorola Razr 2020 altogether.
