Things You Probably Didn’t Know About New Motorola RAZR

|

Motorola RAZR is finally available for the masses. Though the device is not up for grabs yet, the company has promised that the phone will hit the shelves by early 2020. This is the first major clamshell-style smartphone with a foldable display design powered by a zero-gap hinge.

Things You Probably Didn’t Know About New Motorola RAZR

No Physical SIM Card Slot

One of the principal peculiarities of the Motorola RAZR is the fact that it does not have a physical SIM card slot. Instead, the phone has an eSIM support that supports 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G network. Plus, the phone also supports Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-channel Wi-Fi.

No Visible Crease

People complained a lot about the visible crease on the first set of foldable-display smartphones from Samsung and Huawei. It looks like Motorola seems to have found a solution to eliminate it. There is also a secondary display outside, which can be used to look at the notifications and to take selfies.

It Is Water Repellant

Though the device does not have a full-fledged water-resistant rating, the device does have a water-repellant coating that protects the phone from water splashes.

Bottom Bezel Is A Powerhouse

The bottom bezel might not be the most aesthetically pleasing part of the RAZR, but it does pack some tricks up its sleeve. To maintain the thin profile the company is using the bezel to pack in the typical stuff like fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, and the main speaker.

Dual Battery Fast Charging

The latest clamshell phone in the market consists of two batteries hidden behind the two halves of the foldable display. In total, the phone has a 2,510 mAh battery that Motorola claims to last up to an entire day. To top it off, the phone does support 15W TurboPower Charging via the USB Type-C port.

Overall, the Motorola RAZR has overcome some of the issues that the first generation folding smartphones suffered. Though it does not have the top-of-the-line specifications the asking price of $1,499 seems reasonable, especially for the feat of engineering that Motorola has achieved. The phone is confirmed to launch in India and is expected to cost around Rs. 1,00,000.
