Motorola X50 Ultra with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC Launching on May 16: Rebranded Edge 50 Ultra?

Motorola has officially revealed the launch date of its flagship X50 Ultra smartphone in China. Motorola posted the teaser of the phone to Weibo, which reveals the X50 Ultra's back panel.

The Moto X50 Ultra will likely debut as a rebranded version of the Edge 50 Ultra as the former is often used to represent Motorola's flagships in the Chinese market. Additionally, the rear panel design and camera system of the Motorola X50 Ultra also matches that of the Edge 50 Ultra.

Motorola X50 Ultra Launch Date

The Motorola X50 Ultra launch date in China is set for May 16 at 07:00 pm local time or 04:30 pm (IST). The Motorola X50 Ultra won't make its debut globally as the Edge 50 Ultra is already available in several regions.

However, it is unclear whether the company will unveil the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra in India. To recall, the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion is also arriving in India on May 16. Since the Motorola X50 Ultra is set to be a rebranded version of the Edge 50 Ultra, its specifications will likely be the same.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Specifications

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone also packs a 4,500 mAh battery with 125W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

The Edge 50 Ultra runs Android 14-based Hello UX out of the box. It will also bring support for Moto AI integration. The Moto Edge 50 Ultra also packs stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking support.

On the back, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra opts for a triple-camera setup with a 50 MP primary camera with a large 1/1.3" sensor size, an f/1.6 aperture, and OIS support. The main camera is paired with a 64 MP telephoto-periscope lens with 3x optical zoom, a 72mm local length, and an f/2.4 aperture.

Completing the rear camera setup is a 50 MP ultrawide shooter with an f/2.0 lens that has 122° field of view that also supports a macro mode. Up front, the Edge 50 Ultra features a 50 MP selfie camera with an f/1.9 lens and autofocus. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra price starts from EUR 999 (roughly Rs 88,850).
