Alleged Nokia 10 schematic image shows circular penta-lens rear camera
Nokia 10 is likely to be the penta-lens camera smartphone to be unveiled at the MWC 2018 show floor.
Initially, it was a January 19 launch for the Nokia 9 and then the same was pushed to MWC 2018 tech show in February. Things became curious when HMD sent the media invites for its press conference to happen on February 25 at the MWC 2018 show floor in Barcelona. Soon after the invites were out, we came across reports that HMD is prepping to launch a smartphone with a penta-lens camera at its rear.
Now, the first rumors about this smartphone have hit the web. A NokiaPowerUser report citing a source has revealed a schematic image of the Nokia 10 that is likely to be launched with the penta-lens camera setup. According to the image, the handset boasts of a revolver-like camera that comprises of six sensors in a circular configuration. At the middle of this circle, there is a LED flash. It looks like each of the sensors have a secondary LED flash as well.
Rear-mounted fingerprint sensor
From the schematic image, it is likely that we can expect the Nokia 10 to have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor instead of the Synaptics' under-glass fingerprint sensor as on the newly launched Vivo X20 Plus UD. However, this is not an official image from HMD Global for us to come to any kind of conclusion regarding the design and features of the device.
Will the lens be co-developed by Zeiss?
Notably, it will not be easy to get a design as shown in the schematics to reality on a commercial smartphone. It the company manages to do so, then the lens should be co-developed by Carl Zeiss. We say so as Nokia and Zeiss have had a good relationship in the past and even HMD joined hands with Zeiss for its Nokia 8 flagship smartphone after renewing the cooperation in the second half of last year.
Rumored Nokia 10 specs
The Nokia 10 is likely to arrive with a full-screen design with 18:9 aspect ratio display. Under its hood, the smartphone is believed to feature an octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC teamed up with Adreno 630 GPU. The processor comes with support for artificial intelligence and machine learning. Also, it has the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem supporting up to 2.2Gbps download speed.
