OnePlus 13R Camera Leak Points to Dedicated Telephoto Lens With 2x Zoom
OnePlus will officially launch its 13 series on January 7, and the OnePlus 13R has been at the center of several discussions. Initially believed to be a rebranded version of the recently launched OnePlus Ace 5 in China, new leaks indicate some significant differences between the two devices.
These differences could make the 13R a more interesting option for international markets, particularly for users who value photography features.

Camera Changes
One of the main points of distinction between the OnePlus 13R and the Ace 5 lies in the camera setup. The 13R is rumored to include a telephoto lens, which adds more functionality to its camera system. The leaked specifications suggest the following configuration:
- A 50 MP main camera powered by Sony's Lytia LYT-700 sensor.
- An 8 MP ultrawide lens for capturing wide-angle shots.
- A 50 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, using Samsung's ISOCELL JN5 sensor.
For selfies, the phone is expected to have a 16 MP front-facing camera. In comparison, the OnePlus Ace 5 replaces the telephoto lens with a basic 2 MP macro sensor.
Battery Changes
The OnePlus 13R is confirmed to feature a 6000mAh battery, which is smaller than the 6415mAh capacity of the Ace 5. While the reason for this reduction remains unclear, it mirrors a similar decision made with the Realme GT7 Pro, where the Indian variant also included a smaller battery compared to its Chinese counterpart.
Moving Beyond Rebranding
Historically, OnePlus' R-series models have mirrored the design and features of their Ace counterparts. The OnePlus 12R, for example, was essentially a renamed OnePlus Ace 3. However, the 13R's rumored upgrades, such as the telephoto camera, indicate that OnePlus is aiming to create a more distinct identity for its global lineup.
This differentiation could make the 13R more competitive internationally, especially in markets where mid-range devices with robust camera systems are in demand.
Wait for the Launch
