Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 765G 5G Announced With 5G Support
Qualcomm has officially unveiled its newest mobile solutions -- the Snapdragon 865, Snapdragon 765G 5G, and the Snapdragon 765 at the Qualcomm Tech Summit 2019. Besides these chipsets, the company has also confirmed plans to deploy NSA sub-6GHz and SA based 5G networking in India, starting from 2021.
The company claims that there will be at least 1.4 billion 5G capable smartphones by 2022. Besides these chipsets, the brand has also announced the Snapdragon X52 Modem-RF system, which is the world's first integrated 5G platform that offers up to 3.7Gbps download speeds with dynamic spectrum sharing.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 And 765G 5G Highlights
Though the company is yet to reveal the complete specifications of these chipsets, it did confirm that the Snapdragon 765 and the 765G 5G will be capable of capturing 4K videos with HDR standard. These chipsets also have a built-in 5th Gen AI engine and also support Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite gaming features.
The one difference between the Snapdragon 765G 5G and the 765 is the support for 5G. The Snapdragon 765G 5G has a built-in 5G modem (Snapdragon X52) and is also the first NA 5G chipset from Qualcomm. Similarly, the Snapdragon 765 is a 4G only chipset with a 4G LTE modem.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Highlights
Many of the Android flagship smartphones launching in 2020 will be powered the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. This is a flagship product that comes with support for Snapdragon X55 5G modem. One of the reports suggests that one cannot make a 4G phone with the Snapdragon 865 without the Snapdragon X55 5G modem.
Though it is an NSA chipset, the Snapdragon 865 does not have a built-in 4G modem. Coming to the multi-media capabilities, the chipset officially supports 8K video recording and photos of up to 200MP resolution, this means some of the upcoming flagship smartphones might come with a 108MP camera.
