Redmi K30 5G Based On MediaTek SoC To Launch In Early 2020

It has been officially confirmed that Xiaomi is already working on the successor of the Redmi K20 -- the Redmi K30. The Redmi K20 and the Redmi K20 Pro are the first set of affordable flagship smartphones from Xiaomi's subsidiary smartphone brand. Lu Weibing, GM Redmi has also confirmed that the Redmi K30 will be the most affordable 5G smartphone in the world.

According to the latest report from Weibo, the Redmi K30 will be based on a MediaTek chipset making it the first 5G capable Redmi phone and a first 5G phone based on a MediaTek chipset.

The company is likely to use MediaTek's newly announced processor with an integrated 5G modem. Though Xiaomi hasn't launched a lot of MediaTek chipset powered smartphones lately, the company did announce the Redmi Note 8 Pro based on the MediaTek Helio G90T processor -- made for gaming-centric smartphones.

One of the major design overhauls that the Redmi K30 will carry over the Redmi K20 is an oval-shaped punch-hole display, similar to the Galaxy S10 Plus. Whereas the Redmi K20 has a pop-up selfie camera. The company might continue to use an AMOLED display with a higher screen-to-body ratio and an optical in-display fingerprint sensor.

Redmi K30 Price And Availability

The pricing and availability of the Redmi K30 are currently under the wraps. However, considering the brand's trend the Redmi K30 along with the Redmi K30 Pro are expected to be launched in early 2020, where the latter model will be an expensive one.

As per the pricing the Redmi K30 is likely to cost less than 3,000 Yuan (approx Rs. 30,000) at least for the base variant. The devices will be made available in China and select European countries in the first phase and India might get a 4G only versions of these smartphones.
