Redmi Teases a New Smartphone Launch in India in 2025 – Is It the Redmi 14C 5G?
Redmi is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in India, marking the device's global debut. A teaser shared by the brand on its official X (formerly Twitter) account hints at the launch happening early in 2025.
The post reads, "Kick off the New Year with a bang," accompanied by an image labeled "2025G," pointing towards 5G network support. While the official name hasn't been confirmed, leaks suggest it will be the Redmi 14C 5G.

Teaser Hints at Camera-Centric Design
The teaser reveals the smartphone's silhouette, showcasing what appears to be a circular camera module. This design is likely intended to emphasize the device's photographic capabilities, though official details remain under wraps. Redmi's use of the hashtag #2025G further confirms 5G compatibility, aligning with the increasing demand for high-speed connectivity in the Indian market.
Redmi 14C 5G: Successor to the 13C
Tipster Paras Guglani has suggested that the upcoming smartphone will be the Redmi 14C 5G, succeeding the Redmi 13C, which launched in December 2023. The 4G variant of the Redmi 14C debuted globally earlier this year, and the Indian release could bring the 5G variant with updated hardware.
Geekbench listings for a device with the model number 2411DRN47I (as spotted by MySmartPrice), believed to be the Indian version of the Redmi 14C 5G, reveal a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and Android 14. The phone scored 917 in single-core performance and 2,182 in multi-core tests. Additional listings on the IMEI database and HyperOS source code support the speculation that the 14C 5G could be a rebranded version of the Redmi 14R, which launched in China in September.
Expected Specifications
If the Redmi 14C 5G mirrors the Redmi 14R, the following specifications are anticipated:
- Display: 6.88-inch screen with a resolution of 1640 x 720 pixels, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 600 nits peak brightness. The display may also support eye protection and usability with wet hands.
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset with Adreno GPU.
- Cameras: A 13MP primary rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.
- Battery: 5,160mAh with 18W fast charging.

Launch Timeline and Broader Ecosystem Updates
Redmi is expected to announce the exact launch date soon, with reports suggesting the event could coincide with the debut of the Xiaomi Pad 7 on January 10. While pricing details remain unclear, the phone is likely to be positioned in the budget 5G segment, continuing Redmi's tradition of offering value-driven devices.
