JioPhone delivery to start during Navratri
JioPhone delivery to start during Navratri
We have been coming across several reports regarding the JioPhone pre-bookings. Until now, we know that the delivery of the device that went on pre-booking on August 24 will be delayed until mid-September as there is a huge demand for it. Also, it is likely that the device will go on pre-booking again in the coming days.
Now, the latest information that is making the rounds on the internet is that the JioPhone has received six million pre-bookings in a short time period of one day. This shows the very strong demand for the handset among the consumers. In addition to the six million pre-bookings, the company is claimed to have registered interest from 10 million consumers for the JioPhone. Interestingly, this figure is a collective one with almost equal participation from the metros, towns and rural areas.
As mentioned above, the JioPhone bookings have been halted for now. Still, the interested consumers can register their interest for the handset and they will receive the notification whenever the handset is ready based on the first come first serve basis as soon as the booking resumes.
Though there is no official confirmation regarding when the booked JioPhone will be delivered to the consumers, the delivers are expected to commence sometime during the festive season of Navratri in September.
In a previous report citing some retailers in the Delhi-NCR region, it was tipped that the pre-booking will debut in three to four days and that the delivery will happen sometime between September 10 and September 15.
To recap on the bookings, interested consumers should pay a pre-booking fee of Rs. 500 as an advance and remaining Rs. 1,000 at the time of buying the device. The whole amount of Rs. 1,500 is refundable at the time of returning the JioPhone after three years. Those who have already pre-ordered the device can check the status of the device by giving an SMS to 18008908900.
When it comes to the specifications of the JioPhone, the device runs on KaiOS and comes with a slew of Jio apps pre-installed in it. The handset comes with 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB using a microSD card. Also, there is a 2MP main camera at the rear and a VGA selfie camera. The other aspects include 4G VoLTE, NFC support, Wi-Fi, Jio Assistant, and a 2000mAh battery offering up to 15 days of standby.
