Samsung Galaxy Note 8 launched in India at Rs. 67,900
The Galaxy Note 8 is now official in India.
Finally, the Indian market has got the latest Note series device after two years. Well, Samsung has announced the launch of the Galaxy Note 8 in the country. The Galaxy Note 8 is priced at Rs. 67,900 in the country.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 8 at the Unpacked event that was held on August 23. Within a month, the device has been launched in India showing that the company considers the market to be an important one. The phablet definitely has a huge interest in the country as Samsung received a record of over 2.5 lakh pre-registrations in the past few days.
Like the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, the Galaxy Note 8 also comes with the Exynos 8895 SoC in India instead of the Snapdragon 835 SoC. The major highlights of the flagship smartphone duo are included in this one as well. We say so as it features the Infinity Display, Bixby digital assistant, Samsung Pay support, Bluetooth 5.0 and more. Without further ado, let's take a look at more details about the Galaxy Note 8 from below.
Design and Display
The Galaxy Note 8 comes with a bezel-less design similar to the one that we saw on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ earlier this year. The design flows seamlessly over the edges without any interruption. The device comes with an edge-to-edge screen and the home button is embedded under the screen. The big phone comes with the Infinity Display that we saw on the Galaxy S8 duo those were launched in March this year.
The Galaxy Note 8 adorns a 6.3-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2960 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The corners of the screen appear to be curved steeply. The screen is huge enough so that you can enjoy an immersive experience be it gaming, browsing, watching videos or multitasking.
The device also comes with an exceptionally performing S-Pen that comes with various functionalities and features for a great user experience. The Infinity Display is claimed to be engineered in order to work well with the S-Pen. Also, the Galaxy Note 8 is IP68 certified making it dust and water resistant. The front and rear are protected with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that makes the device durable and gives it a high-quality finish.
Hardware
The Galaxy Note 8 is powered by an octa-core Exynos 8895 SoC built using the 10nm process similar to the Snapdragon 835 SoC. We have already seen the performance of this chipset with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The processor is teamed up with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage space. The internal storage can be expanded up to 256GB using a microSD card. A 3300mAh battery powers the Galaxy Note 8 giving up to 20 hours of talk time. The battery supports both wireless charging and fast charging features.
Camera
Being the first dual camera smartphone to be launched by Samsung, the Galaxy Note 8 comes with two 12MP sensors at the rear. The primary camera comes with two 12MP sensors at the rear. The main sensor is a wide-angle lens while the secondary one is a telephoto lens. The latter comes with dual OIS, f/1.7 aperture, portrait mode like in DSLRs, panorama, pro mode, slow motion, Hyperlapse and more. Also, the camera lets you save photos as RAW file. Up front, there is an 8MP autofocus camera with a wide-angle lens and f/1.7 aperture. The camera also comes with Quick launch and dual capture features as well for a great camera experience.
Connectivity
The Galaxy Note 8 comes with the Hybrid dual SIM support as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Usually, Samsung's high-end smartphones will not have dual SIM support but just a SIM card slot and a micro SD card slot for expandable storage. This is a welcome feature for those who seek more flexibility in using their smartphone. The connectivity features include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, GPS and NFC. There are a slew of sensors such as fingerprint sensor at the rear, heart rate sensor, iris scanner, proximity sensor, Samsung Pay and MST. The device runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and we are sure that it will get the Oreo update by the end of this month.
S-Pen
The S-Pen that is included in the Galaxy Note 8 comes with some great efficiencies that will take your user experience to the next level. The S-Pen will soon become a part of your life with its capabilities. The S-Pen can let you take a note on the screen of the Galaxy Note 8 even when the display is turned off. There are many more features added to the same to give a better experience to the users.
Bixby
The Bixby virtual voice assistant will also be a part of the Galaxy Note 8. There will be a dedicated button to launch Bixby at the side of the device. It will help you launch any app, send a message, change your phone's wallpaper and more.
Price and Availability
The Galaxy Note 8 is priced at Rs. 67,900 in India. Those who pre-book the device will get the device starting from September 21. The device will be available from Amazon India and select retail stores. The early buyers will get an introductory offer of free screen replacement for one time and a wireless charging dock. Those who buy the Galaxy Note 8 using HDFC credit card will get Rs. 4,000 cash back.
