Samsung Galaxy S9 likely to feature a modular design

Given that the Galaxy Note 8's launch is pegged for tomorrow, it is too early to speculate about the Galaxy S9. The Galaxy S8 flagship duo was launched in April this year and we expect the successors to arrive only in the first quarter of 2018.

The Galaxy S8 with a bezel-less infinity Display panel has been receiving a lot of good reviews from users that the company has decided to utilize a similar design for the Galaxy Note 8 as well. However, the year is approaching its end gradually and it is time to focus on the next generation models slated for the next year.

We have already seen a few details about the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones. Lately, we saw that these smartphones from Samsung will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. Even an earlier benchmark listing seemingly confirmed the use of the Qualcomm processor in the 2018 Samsung flagship models. Previously, it was said that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will retain the same screen sizes as the current generation flagships.

The recent information about the Galaxy S9 is that the smartphone might feature a modular design. This rumor has come from a Russian blogger @eldarmurtazin (via GizmoChina). According to the tweet, the Galaxy S9 might arrive with a modular design that might let users attach some accessories including battery or camera similar to Moto Mods on the Moto Z Play and Z2 Play. He has also pointed out that the design is awaiting approval, so there are possibilities for it to not happen as well.

Besides Motorola, Essential Phone (PH-1) also features a modular design that lets users attach accessories such as the Essential 360 Camera and others those are yet to be launched.

For now, the Galaxy S9 is rumored to arrive with screen sizes of 5.77 inches and 76.22 inches similar to their predecessors and feature in-display fingerprint sensors as well. The smartphones are said to feature a dual rear camera setup and 6GB/8GB RAM.

As it is too early to come to a conclusion regarding the Galaxy S9, we need to wait for more details to surface online in the coming months regarding the 2018 flagship smartphones.
