Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be unveiled on February 25; media invites are out

Samsung had previously confirmed that it will hold a launch event at the MWC 2018 tech show in February to unveil the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship smartphones. Now, the company has confirmed the launch date as well. According to the media invites sent out by Samsung, it will host the event on February 25 that is a day before the commencement of the MWC 2018 tech show to announce the Galaxy S9 duo of smartphones.

The official invites for Samsung state that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will feature a Reimagined camera. Even the recent reports those have surfaced online have tipped that the upcoming Samsung flagship smartphones will have some major camera improvements. These smartphones are expected to have a variable aperture that will let users adjust the aperture of the 12MP sensor from f/1.5 to f/2.4 before clicking a photo. Notably, the Samsung W2018 flagship clamshell smartphone was the first one to arrive with the variable aperture feature.

The rumors have also pointed out that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will have the ability to shoot full HD super slow-motion videos at 480fps. Notably, the yesteryear flagship smartphones - Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ can shoot slow-motion HD videos at 240fps. The earlier leaks have revealed that the Galaxy S9 will have a single camera at the rear while the Galaxy S9+ will have a dual camera setup with the two lenses positioned vertically unlike the horizontal setup on the Galaxy Note 8.

The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are expected to flaunt a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display panels with 18.5:9 aspect ratio as in their predecessors. The smartphones are likely to use the Snapdragon 845 SoC in the U.S. and Chinese markets and Exynos 9810 chipset in the other markets. It is believed that there will be 4GB and 6GB of RAM and 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries in the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ respectively.

Having said that the unveiling of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will happen on February 25, the speculation is that the pre-order might debut on March 1. Also, the shipment is said to debut on March 16. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the same expect for the launch date.
