Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event Highlights | Samsung Galaxy S24 Series, Galaxy AI, Galaxy Ring

Samsung recently concluded its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2024, where it showcased the Galaxy S24 series. The line-up includes the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus, and Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The Galaxy S24 series arrived with the custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, Dynamic AMOLED 2x displays with 120Hz refresh rate, and Android 14-based One UI 6.1. Samsung also unveiled a myriad of new AI features. So without any delays, here are the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event highlights.

Samsung Galaxy S24

The Samsung Galaxy S24 was the first handset in the line-up and arrived with the custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. However, Indian audiences will have to settle for the Exynos 2400 SoC. In terms of build, the Galaxy S24 features an aluminum frame, Corning Gorilla Victus 2 protection, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The Galaxy S24 retains the same 50 MP triple-camera setup from last year. It also boasts a brighter FHD+ LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The S24 also gets 7 years of major OS and seven years of security updates. The Samsung Galaxy S24 price starts from $799 (roughly Rs 66,500).

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ offers the same specifications as the vanilla S24 in a larger package. Apart from being large, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus also gets a larger QHD+ LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung has also increased the battery capacity on the S24 Plus, now offering a 4,900 mAh battery. The Galaxy S24 Plus price starts from $999 (roughly Rs 83,100).

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will use a custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset in India. While the S24 Ultra features a larger 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, it is now 100% flat with no curvature and brighter than its predecessor.

On the back, there's a 200 MP quad-camera setup with a new 50 MP periscope lens with 5x optical zoom and an f/3.4 aperture. Samsung has also updated the build quality of the S24 Ultra, now using a Titanium frame and Gorilla Glass Amor protection on the front. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra price starts from $1,299 (roughly Rs 98,300).

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series AI Features

AI was at the forefront of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. There's a new AI-backed keyboard to translate messages in real-time in 13 different languages. There's new Note Assist and Transcript Assist features. Additionally, Chat Assist works like ChatGPT and Android Auto to automatically analyze incoming messages and suggest relevant replies when driving.

Samsung S24 Series Gemini-powered AI Features

At the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, Google revealed that the S24 series would use Gemini to power its AI capabilities. Gemini Pro will be integrated into select Samsung apps. The Galaxy S24 series will also come with the in-built Gemini Nano, the most efficient model for on-device tasks. Google also announced its all-new Circle to Search and multi-search features to make Search more intuitive. Circle to Search will also be coming to the Pixel 8 series on January 31.

Samsung Galaxy Ring

Samsung also teased a new smart ring, which is set to feature "cutting edge" health innovations. Samsung says it will be a "powerful and accessible health and wellness device, here to change the shape of future health like only Samsung can". The Galaxy Ring will also be able to track a bunch of health metrics and provide you with vibrations for notifications.
