Samsung’s Next Galaxy Unpacked 2026 Date Leaked: New "Wide Fold" Foldable, Smart Glasses, and More Expected

Samsung is reportedly preparing to host its next Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, where the company is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, and possibly its first AI-powered smart glasses.

According to a report from South Korean publication Seoul Economic Daily, Samsung is planning a much broader AI-focused showcase this year instead of limiting the event to foldable phones alone.

The Galaxy Watch9 series is also expected to debut alongside the new foldables.

Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 Expected With New Form Factors

The report claims Samsung is working on a new “Fold Wide” model alongside the regular Galaxy Z Fold8 lineup.

Unlike the current Fold devices, this version is said to feature a wider outer display and a slightly shorter overall design. When unfolded, the phone could reportedly offer a more tablet-like screen ratio aimed at improving multitasking and media consumption.

That detail is interesting because Samsung appears to be pushing harder on foldable form factor experimentation just as Apple is widely expected to enter the foldable market in the coming years.

At the moment, Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed any of these devices.

Samsung AI Glasses Could Be the Main Attraction

The bigger story though might actually be Samsung’s smart glasses.

The report says Samsung is preparing to showcase its first “Galaxy Glasses” wearable, developed in partnership with eyewear brand Gentle Monster. The device is expected to run Android XR, the new mixed reality platform being developed jointly by Google and Samsung.

Unlike bulky mixed reality headsets, these glasses reportedly won’t include a built-in display. Instead, they are expected to rely on speakers, microphones, cameras, and Gemini AI integration.

The idea seems to be creating an AI assistant that can understand what the user is looking at in real time and respond through voice interactions.

That’s a very different direction compared to traditional AR glasses.

Samsung Is Expanding Beyond Smartphones

The report also suggests Samsung wants these glasses to become part of its broader AI ecosystem tied to Galaxy phones, SmartThings-connected appliances, and even cars through partnerships with Hyundai and Kia.

Samsung is reportedly positioning the glasses as an “edge device” rather than just another wearable.

That wording matters because companies like Meta, Xiaomi, and Apple are all approaching AI wearables slightly differently right now. Samsung appears to be betting heavily on ecosystem integration instead of standalone hardware features.

Still, a lot remains unconfirmed at this stage. Samsung hasn’t officially announced the July event yet, and details around the glasses remain limited for now.
