Sony Xperia 1 Professional Edition Goes Official With Ethernet Support

Sony Xperia 1 Professional Edition has been unveiled in Japan. The smartphone features an upgraded display and a few other notable changes as compared to the Xperia 1, which went official at the MWC 2019 in February. Well, the upgraded variant of the Sony Xperia 1 comes with a LAN Ethernet connection that is possible via the USB Type-C port.

When it comes to looks, the Professional Edition is quite reminiscent to that of the Sony Xperia 1 except for some minor additions in the former. As mentioned above, there is Ethernet connectivity via the USB Type-C port. The company doesn't bundle the cable needed for the connectivity along with the device. The new variant features a pre-installed imaging Edge Mobile app, which lets users transfer content wirelessly from Sony cameras to the device. It also has the Transfer and Tagging add-on to create tags and voice captions to photos.

On the specifications front, the Sony Xperia 1 Professional Edition adorns a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED CinemaWide display with a resolution of 1644 x 3840 pixels and an aspect ratio of 21:9. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, 10-bit tonal gradation support, and Master Monitor color reproduction.

Under its hood, the smartphone makes use of an octa-core Snapdragon 855 SoC teamed up with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage space, which can be further expanded up to 512GB with a microSD card. For imaging, the Professional Edition model comes with triple cameras at the rear with a 12MP primary Exmor RS sensor with f/1.6 aperture, OIS, EIS, and a 78-degree lens, a 12MP secondary sensor with 135-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.4 aperture, and a third 12MP sensor with 45-degree 2x telephoto lens and f/2.4 aperture.

The selfie camera is an 8MP sensor along with 84-degree field of view and f/2.0 aperture. The device runs Android 9 Pie and gets the power from a 3300mAh battery with the company's Xperia Adaptive Charging. It also has Smart Stamina for better battery backup.

Sony Xperia 1 Professional Edition Price

Sony Xperia 1 Professional Edition has been unveiled in the company's home market Japan. It is priced at JPY 143,000 (approx. Rs. 93,500). As of now, only the Black color variant is available and the listing on the Sony Japan website shows that the sale will debut on October 25. There is no word regarding the international availability of this Sony smartphone as yet.
