Two Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 variants likely clear 3C certification

Lately, there is a lot of confusion regarding the Redmi Note 5 making the rounds on the internet. We came across reports that the Redmi 5 with the full-screen design could be launched in India as the Redmi Note 5. But the recent happening makes us think that the next-generation Note device still exists. Two new devices from Xiaomi have received 3C certifications and these are likely to be variants of the Redmi Note 5.

The two new devices spotted on the 3C certification database have the model numbers MET7S and MEE7S. These are said to be registered by Xiaomi Communications Technology Co. Ltd on January 8, 2018. And, the model numbers have also been revealed by the certification database as mentioned above.

Notably, the Redmi 5 came with the model numbers MDT1 and MDE1 while the Redmi 5 Plus has the model numbers MEE7 and Xiaomi MET7 respectively. These phones were launched in China in December 2017 and went on sale later that month. From the model numbers, we can expect the two devices spotted on the 3C certification database to be another device in the Redmi lineup and not the Redmi 5 or 5 Plus.

From the previously leaked reports, we can expect the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC. Given that this chipset is yet to be announced, we can consider this to be a speculation as there is not much clarity regarding the same.

Also, the upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi's stable is believed to feature dual rear cameras and a 5.99-inch display that will have FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Besides these, we can expect the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 to have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as there will be a full-screen design with a near bezel-less display. Having said that, we can estimate the smartphone to have slim bezels at the top and bottom of the screen too.

Given that Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 will succeed the Redmi Note 4 that is a bestselling smartphone from the company, these rumored aspects make us believe that the upcoming device is definitely worth the wait.
