Vivo Could Bring the X200 Ultra and X200 Pro Mini to India—Here’s What We Know
Vivo is reportedly making a strong case for launching its upcoming X200 Ultra in India, despite earlier expectations that the flagship would remain exclusive to China.
The device is set to be released in China in April 2025, but sources suggest that Vivo India is lobbying for an Indian launch, citing the strong market performance of the X200 Pro as a key reason.

Vivo India’s Push for the X200 Ultra
During MWC 2024 in Barcelona, Vivo executives allegedly told partners that the X200 Pro had completely sold out in India, prompting a request for additional stock from its manufacturing facilities. This demand has strengthened Vivo India’s confidence in expanding its ultra-premium smartphone portfolio, which also includes the X Fold3 Pro—another high-end device that performed well in the market.
Given this success, Vivo India is in talks with its headquarters to bring the X200 Ultra to India, along with the X200 Pro Mini. While a decision hasn’t been finalized, there’s a strong possibility that the X200 Ultra will arrive in India later this year.
Competition in the Premium Smartphone Space
Vivo is currently India’s leading smartphone brand, but it faces increasing competition in the premium segment. Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra in India yesterday, with both models powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and featuring Leica-engineered cameras. These devices pose a direct challenge to Vivo’s flagship lineup.
What to Expect From the X200 Ultra
While official specs remain unconfirmed, leaks suggest the X200 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, an upgrade from the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 in the X200 Pro. The camera system is expected to feature a custom Sony LYT 818 sensor, a 200MP Samsung HP9 telephoto lens, and an improved ultrawide camera. The display is also rumored to be larger with thinner bezels compared to the X200 Pro.
The X200 Ultra would likely be positioned between the X200 Pro (₹94,999) and the X Fold3 Pro (₹1,59,999), making it a direct competitor to Xiaomi’s 15 Ultra, which goes for ₹1,09,999.
Vivo’s Long-Term Strategy
Vivo’s strategy isn’t just about hardware—it’s also focusing on software improvements. The company is working on enhancing FunTouch OS by integrating select features from its China-exclusive OriginOS, aiming to create a more seamless experience for international users.
For now, the X200 Ultra’s launch in India remains uncertain, but with Vivo looking to maintain its dominance in the premium segment, bringing its most powerful flagship to the country could be a smart move.
