Vivo V80 Could Get the Biggest Battery Ever on a V-Series Phone Along With AI Diwali Portrait 2.0

Vivo's next V-Series phone is starting to look less like a routine camera upgrade and more like a full creator pitch. Days after reports pegged the Vivo V80 for an India launch in the first week of October, a fresh set of leaks has added the software and battery side of the story, and both look like the bigger jumps here.

The headline addition is an AI Creative Camera that is tipped to ship with more than 30 AI effects, along with a feature called Live Sticker Collage. The idea, going by what has leaked so far, is to cut the gap between shooting something and posting it. Instead of exporting a clip to a third-party app, the phone is expected to handle the transformation in-camera and hand back something that is already share-ready. If it works as described, it would be a clear step up from what the V70 and the V70 Elite offered, both of which leaned on hardware and Zeiss tuning rather than on-device creative tools.

New festive portrait mode

Vivo is also tipped to bring AI Diwali Portrait 2.0 to the V80. The first version of this, AI Festive Portrait, showed up on the Vivo V60 and was built around the lighting conditions Indian users actually shoot in through October and November, which is to say diyas, fairy lights and a lot of uneven colour temperature. Version 2.0 is expected to be a more evolved take on the same pitch. The timing is not accidental either, given the launch window lines up almost exactly with the festive season.

The battery is bigger

Powering all of this could be a 7200mAh cell, which would be the largest battery ever fitted to a V-Series phone. Earlier certification listings had already pointed to a 7200mAh pack with 90W wired fast charging, up from the 6500mAh unit on the V70. Vivo is expected to position this as roughly two days of use, which matters more than usual on a phone being sold to people who shoot, edit and upload on the move. Fewer power bank stops is an easy message to sell.

OriginOS 7 on Android 17

On software, the V80 is tipped to debut with OriginOS 7 based on Android 17, which would bring Vivo's newest interface and its Origin smoothness work to the V-Series. Worth flagging that some earlier spec listings for the V80 had mentioned Android 16, so this one is best treated as a leak until Vivo says otherwise.

Put together, the picture is of an AI-forward phone built around the whole loop of capturing, editing and sharing, rather than just a better sensor. The rest of the rumoured spec sheet has stayed fairly consistent, with a 6.59-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset and a Zeiss-backed triple rear camera headlined by a 50MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom and 10x portrait zoom.

Pricing remains the loose end. Estimates have swung between under Rs 50,000 and above Rs 60,000 depending on the source, which is a wide enough gap to change how the V80 is judged. Vivo has not confirmed a launch date, a price or any of these features yet, so treat the lot as speculation until the official teasers begin.
