At the CES 2018 tech show earlier this month, Vivo showcased the X20 Plus smartphone with the in-screen fingerprint sensor. Notably, this device carries the credits for being the first smartphone to come with the under-display fingerprint sensor. Now, the company has officially confirmed that it will unveil the Vivo X20 Plus smartphone with the in-screen fingerprint sensor on January 24.

The Vivo X20 Plus in-screen fingerprint variant received the 3C certification in China earlier this month and also bagged the TENAA certification a few days back. Even the previous rumors have pointed out that the device could be launched as Vivo X20 Plus UD as tbhis name was spotted on a few leaks wherein UD stands for 'Under Display'.

Vivo has confirmed that it will launch the Vivo X20 Plus in-screen fingerprint variant by teasing the launch of a smartphone that is to happen on January 24 at 7:30 PM in Beijing, China. The poster does not reveal the specifications or pricing details of the device but the caption reads, "Unlock the Future" tipping that it could be the X20 Plus in-screen fingerprint variant.

The Vivo X20 Plus in-screen fingerprint variant will feature the Clear ID 9500 optical under-display fingerprint sensor developed by Synaptics. The sensor will be positioned between the glass panel and the OLED screen. Besides unlocking the smartphone in less than just 0.7 seconds, this sensor can be used for authenticating payments.

Talking about the specifications, the Vivo X20 Plus in-screen fingerprint variant will bestow a 6.43-inch OLED screen with FHD+ 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under its hood, there will be an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB of default memory space. The device is likely to run Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS out-of-the-box. It will have a dual camera setup at its rear with a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary camera. The selfie snapper will be a 12MP sensor. A 3800mAh battery will operate within it giving a decent backup to the smartphone.

As per the previous reports, the Vivo X20 Plus in-screen fingerprint variant might be priced around 3999 yuan (approx. Rs. 40,000). It makes sense as the regular variant is priced at 3699 yuan (approx. Rs. 37,000).
