Xiaomi 14 Ultra Launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, Four 50 MP Leica Cameras, 2K OLED Display

Xiaomi has officially dropped its new ultra-premium smartphone in China. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is the final addition to the 14 series and follows last year's Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro.

We can expect to see the Xiaomi 14 Ultra at MWC 2024 in Barcelona, where more information will be revealed about its global availability. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra puts a major emphasis on cameras, with four 50 MP rear cameras, much like its predecessor.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra Specifications

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone features a 3x larger vapor cooling chamber for better heat dissipation. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra runs on Android 14-based HyperOS.

Xiaomi's ultra-premium smartphone sports a 6.73-inch 2K (3200 x 1440 pixels) C8 OLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The panel boasts a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate (1Hz to 120Hz), 1920Hz PWM Dimming, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The screen also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ formats. There are dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support and Hi-Res Audio.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra also features an in-display fingerprint reader and a USB 3.2 Type-C port. The handset packs a 5,300 mAh battery with 90W wired and a whopping 80W wireless fast charging support. Furthermore, the G1 and P2 surge battery chips ensure it is protected from overheating. The phone also has a T1 signal enhancement chip helping with the cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connections.

The main highlight of Xiaomi's top-end flagship is undoubtedly its quad-camera setup on the back that consists of four 50 MP sensors co-developed by experts Leica. For the main camera, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra uses a 1-inch type 50 MP Sony LYT-900 sensor with Hyper OIS, and a variable f/1.63 - f/4.0 aperture.

The main camera is paired with a 50 MP Sony IMX858 ultrawide shooter with an f/1.8 aperture and a 50 MP Sony IMX 858 telephoto unit with 3.2x optical zoom, an f/1.8 aperture, and OIS support. Lastly, there's a 50 MP Sony IMX858 periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom, OIS, and an f/2.5 aperture.

The rear camera system here is co-developed with Leica and features Ultra RAW and Ultra SNAP modes using computational magic. The camera system also features a new AI-powered 30x Ultra Zoom.

Additionally, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra can capture 4K video at up to 120fps as well as 8K video across all focal lengths. Up front, there's a 32 MP OmniVision OV32B40 selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and the ability to record 4K video at up to 60fps.

The 14 Ultra introduces "Xiaomi Dragon Armor Architecture," boasting a high-strength aluminum alloy frame and Dragon Crystal Glass. Xiaomi claims that it offers a higher resistance to drops and features superior bending performance compared to the iPhone.

Additionally, the 14 Ultra also comes with the option of a Titanium frame. Moreover, the screen is protected by "Shield Glass", which the company says has a higher drop resistance than traditional glass. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra also features an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra comes in four variations including Dragon Crytal Blue (Glass Back), Black and White (Leather Back), and the Titanium Special Edition. The titanium and blue models are around 5 grams heavier than the leather variants. The Titanium variant also supports two-way satellite communication.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra Pricing

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra price in China starts from CNY 6,499 (roughly Rs 74,900) for the base 12GB/256GB model. Moreover, the 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB configurations will set you back CNY 6,999 (roughly Rs 82,100) and CNY 7,799 (roughly Rs 91,500), respectively.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra Titanium Special Edition comes in a sole 16GB/1TB configuration that is priced at CNY 1,01,400). The Xiaomi 14 Ultra Dragon Crystal Blue (Ceramic), Black and White (Vegan leather) variants will be available from February 27.

However, the Titanium Special Edition will go on sale in China from March 12. Xiaomi has also introduced a two-piece Photography Kit accessory worth CNY 699 (roughly Rs 8,200) with the 14 Ultra. We should get more information about the Xiaomi 14 Ultra's release outside China at MWC 2024.
