Xiaomi 17 Series with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, Secondary Display Launching on September 25
Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch date for its next generation of flagships. The Xiaomi 17 series will debut as the first smartphone incorporate the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip launching tomorrow.
Xiaomi 17 Series Launch Date
The Xiaomi 17 series launch date in China is set for September 25. The line-up will include the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. Xiaomi has already begun teasing the design of its upcoming 17 series, which will include a secondary rear display. Moreover, the design of the Xiaomi 17 series resembles that of the iPhone 17 series.

In addition to the smartphone series, Xiaomi plans to unveil its new tablet lineup, the Xiaomi Pad 8 series. This includes both the Pad 8 and Pad Pro models, which boast an impressive unibody metal design and an AnTuTu score of three million. The performance of these tablets has improved by 69% compared to their predecessors.
Xiaomi 17 Series: What to Expect
The Xiaomi 17 is expected to have a robust 7000mAh battery with support for 90W fast charging. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Pro will come with a slightly smaller 6300mAh battery but will offer faster charging at 100W. The top-tier model, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, is anticipated to feature a massive 7500mAh battery with similar fast charging capabilities of 100W. All models will support wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro is rumoured to feature a similar display size but with ultra-thin bezels measuring just 1.1mm. It may house a triple rear camera setup comprising three 50-megapixel sensors: primary, telephoto with up to 5x optical zoom, and ultrawide lenses.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro models will showcase a unique 'Magic Back Screen'. Additionally, the phones might come with Leica-branded rear cameras, enhancing their photographic capabilities. This model could also support an IP69-rated build for enhanced durability.
Xiaomi Group Chairman and CEO Lei Jun is set to deliver his sixth annual speech during this event. His talk will focus on "Change," exploring stories related to the Xiaomi XRING chip and Xiaomi Auto developments.
