Xiaomi is gearing up for its next flagship launch in China. The Xiaomi 15 series is set to arrive by the end of this month and will be the first to ship with Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which will be announced on September 23.

Xiaomi has already teased the design of the Xiaomi 17 series, and rumours about Xiaomi's next-generation flagships have also been circulating for some time. So here's an in-depth look at the launch date, expected specifications, pricing, and more.

Xiaomi 17 Series Launch Date

The Xiaomi 17 series is expected to include the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, with the launch taking place on September 25. Moreover, all three models are already available for pre-order in China.

Xiaomi 17 Series Design (Expected)

The Xiaomi 17 series will introduce a new "Magic Back Screen"—a rectangular plate that replaces the camera island and frames the lenses with a secondary display. Users can customize this screen with clock faces, avatars, or GIFs.

The devices will also feature Leica branding, continuing Xiaomi's imaging partnership. On the back, the Xiaomi 17 series will house a triple-camera setup with two large sensors arranged vertically within the plate, while a smaller third lens sits beside the flash outside the module.

Xiaomi 17 Series Features (Expected)

As noted, the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max are confirmed to be the first smartphones powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, set to debut on September 23.

They will also ship with the Android 16-based HyperOS 3, which will feature Xiaomi Super Island, which is expected to support small window multitasking, allow up to three active islands simultaneously, and more.

Xiaomi could also introduce a new Liquid Glass UI with its flagships. While Apple brought the Liquid Glass design with iOS 26, a leaked screenshot of HyperOS 3 reveals a strikingly similar aesthetic. The interface showcases frosted blur effects, glossy icons, and a transparent glass-like search bar.

Upfront, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch 120Hz LTPO display with ultra-thin 1.1mm bezels. The standard variant could also share the same display size, while the Pro Max model may sport a larger screen, though its dimensions are still unknown.

Moreover, the Pro model is tipped to pack a 6,300mAh battery with support for 100W wired and wireless charging, an IP69 rating, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. On the other hand, the standard Xiaomi 17 may come with a 7,000mAh battery, 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and an IP68/69 rating.

For imaging, the Xiaomi 17 series will likely have a triple camera system, with the Pro model expected to include a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.67 aperture, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens offering 5x optical zoom at f/3.0. The Pro Max variant is said to feature similar sensors but with a slightly brighter f/2.6 telephoto lens for improved zoom performance.

Xiaomi 17 Series Price (Expected)

There's no word yet on the pricing of the Xiaomi 17 series. However, Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi's Mobile Phone Department, recently indicated that the Xiaomi 17 will receive a "comprehensive upgrade" over its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15, without any increase in price. This suggests that the handset could be priced similarly to last year's Xiaomi 15, which launched in China starting at CNY 4,499 (approximately ₹53,000).
