Xiaomi 18 Pro, Pro Max Camera Specs Tipped Ahead of Launch: May Get Dual 200MP Cameras
Xiaomi appears to be reworking how it differentiates its flagship phones. Early leaks around the upcoming Xiaomi 18 series suggest that camera hardware, especially on the Pro models, could see a noticeable shift this year.

So far, Xiaomi has kept its most aggressive camera setups limited to the Ultra variants. But a new leak points to that approach changing, with higher-end camera hardware potentially moving down to the Pro tier.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Camera
The latest information comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, who says Xiaomi is working on a flagship device featuring a 6.3-inch display and two 200-megapixel cameras. The post doesn’t name the phone directly, but the description lines up with how Xiaomi usually positions its Pro models.
Looking at Xiaomi’s recent launches, both the standard and Pro phones have leaned toward compact designs. If that trend continues, it would suggest that the Xiaomi 18 Pro could offer flagship-level camera hardware without moving to a much larger form factor.
Pro and Pro Max May Stay Closely Aligned
Xiaomi has also shown a pattern of keeping its Pro and Pro Max models closely matched. The Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max followed that formula, sharing similar camera systems while differing mainly in size and battery capacity.
If Xiaomi sticks to this strategy, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could carry the same dual 200-megapixel setup as the Pro. Any distinction between the two may come from different camera sensors, a larger display, and a higher battery capacity rather than a fundamentally different camera system.
A 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera is also expected to be part of the setup, rounding out the camera hardware. Both Pro models are said to include a more capable secondary display on the back, suggesting Xiaomi may continue expanding how that feature is used.
The Standard Model Could Finally Get Better Zoom
While most of the attention is on the Pro variants, the base Xiaomi 18 may also see a meaningful camera change. Digital Chat Station has previously suggested that Xiaomi could add a periscope telephoto camera to the standard model.
If that happens, it would replace the current telephoto unit and bring improved optical zoom, something Xiaomi has typically saved for higher-end models.
Chipset and Launch Timeline So Far
The entire Xiaomi 18 lineup is rumored to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, covering the Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max. The Xiaomi 18 Ultra may go a step further with a higher-tier Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro variant.

As of now, the Xiaomi 18 series is expected to debut in China around September, with the Ultra model likely launching later in the year.
Xiaomi 18 Pro India Launch
Xiaomi is currently preparing global launches for the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra, while reports suggest that the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will remain China-only. That makes it unclear whether the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will ever be sold outside China.
