Xiaomi Blackshark with Snapdragon 845 SoC teased
Xiaomi Blackshark with Snapdragon 845 SoC, 8GB RAM and FHD+ 18:9 display is in the making.
Remember the Blackshark gaming smartphone, which was spotted on Geekbench and AnTuTu benchmarking databases of late? Well, this is said to be the first gaming smartphone to come from the stable of Xiaomi. It is said that the device will be launched under the company's new Black Shark brand as Xiaomi starting investing in the brand back in 2017.
While we are yet to come across a confirmation from Xiaomi regarding the existence of the Blackshark gaming smartphone, the official Weibo page of Black Shark has posted a new teaser revealing minuscule details about the device. While the teaser shows the name of Qualcomm and tips the use of the octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC, even Qualcomm China has confirmed the same. Notably, there is no mention of Xiaomi in this teaser.
Going by the previously leaked AnTuTu benchmark screenshot of the alleged Xiaomi Blackshark, the smartphone is said to arrive with 32GB storage capacity. Though this could be a let down for most Xiaomi fans, we can expect high-end variants of the device with 64GB and 128GB storage capacities as well. The Snapdragon 845 SoC is believed to work in conjunction with Adreno 630 GPU and 8GB RAM.
A few days back, a Geekbench listing of the Xiaomi Blackshark gaming smartphone surfaced online revealing some details. Going by the same, the Blackshark could arrive with the model number SKR-A0 and run Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. Even this benchmark listing tipped at the incorporate of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and 8GB RAM.
Being one of the most powerful Xiaomi smartphones, this Blackshark gaming smartphone is said to arrive with an FHD+ (2160 x 1080) display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. While the AnTuTu score of the Xiaomi gaming smartphone is likely to be 270,680 points, the same device is said to have managed to score 2452 and 8452 points in the single-core and multi-core tests on Geekbench respectively.
If the alleged Xiaomi Blackshark SKR-A0 exists, then the device could be a direct rival to the Razer Phone, which is a gaming smartphone unveiled in November 2017. So, we can expect the Blackshark to be launched with a display with 120Hz refresh rate and a capacious battery as in the Razer Phone.
